I'll make you some patch panels. Don't know when though. When do you think you can use them?

I know your a busy man....When you have the time my friend, when you have the time...

Thank you for the offer !!!:beer:

Hard to find a helper on Sunday? Glad to see you finally put gloves on. :grinpimp:

When I was a child I once worked in a steel plant lifting big coils, cutting plate, etc. etc. and pushing big sheets through a big shear all day - watching you flip those sheets ...

Do you guys see custom die work come in or is it always a programmed punch outlining a part - and what kind of tolerance can that punch deliver/maintain?

Amazing what you (and a smart phone) can do these days. Next stop - Hollywood :)

The machine tolerance is 0.005"

We do buy custom punch shapes but almost no custom forming tools. We dont do any stamping, its all V die bending and a bit of rolling.

I shot another vid last night of bending all the cross members. Got it all edited but just have to cut it in half and upload it.

I enjoy showing all the set-up footage. Mostly because I think complex machines are cool

Kevin,

Do you know if the bed floor supports are the same for SWB and LWB beds? Like Killerpea, I too, would be in for a SWB bed!!! Outstanding work Brother!!!!

Tony, The floor supports are totally different,Kevin would need a bed to reference from.I have a really good short bed,but it is a fixed cab bed, different length.I wonder if Kevin could hook up with todd at aqualu and get a set of prints and dimensions?they repro the short bed rt version? Hmmmm...Where have you been?

I've never spoken to Aqualu, and I'm sure they are great people to deal with but I doubt they would want to share too much info. I would be a competitor of sorts. From what I've seen in photos the short bed is very doable for me. Let me finish this run and my build and I will try and borrow a bed somewhere.

There would probably be just as much interest in the short bed,due to a very rust prone design.Keep up the great work...

So you're saying it could be repeat business?

I think you could probably do about 10 to 12,they are rare but I think the demand is there, maybe an informal pole when the time comes..

not to jump the gun but........................................I'd be in for one of those too:beer:

Whitey,

I thought they only dealt with aluminum so I never looked into it. I would think electrolysis would be a problem over time.

Thanks for the consideration Kevin!!

Thanks merb, here's some more... the first one is just setting up the press to bend 12 ga. and the second one is bending cross members for the beds.

Here is some stuff from today - not much but progress is progress

These plates will get a hole and a bend to become the type 2 mounts

And here are the nuts installed in the video

Friday:

Finished the captured nut insertion (ran out of M8 nuts the other day)

Sheared up the type 2 bed mounts and punched holes in them - still have to bend them. Same pic as above cuz I didn't shoot one of the holes

Punched out the type 1 mounts - see video
