If yours is an early 12V with no intercooler it already has BIG injectors. The later rotary 12V engines had 7mm injectors, yours has 9mm (they went with smaller injectors due to head cracks). Don't change the injectors. Crank up the pump and put a 3200 RPM governor spring in the pump. You think it has power now, with these two mods you'll be thinking you drive a hotrod camaro.

Mine (Banks intercooler, stock everything else 1993 6BT in a 4500 lbs Land-Rover pickup) is turned up to about 220 around town but I can crank it up to near 260-270 in 5 minutes.

It truly is one sexy bitch in every and all aspects.

I have been following this project since the begining and it's a beautiful Truck.

I pulled it out of my 1991 Dodge 2wd.

On the way back from Project Phoenix I get at call from OrangeFJ45. He said my hubs were turning. I pull off the side of the road and check the hubs, yep, they are in the locked position. I take off and catch OrangeFJ45. About 30 miles down the road I look down and notice the 4x4 shift is in 4high.

I pull off the side of the road and put it in 2Hi. WOW!

No more vibration at 72mph and I have snappier acceleration.

I figure I would tell this story before OrangeFJ45 and DeHondaGod did. :D

been there, done that :whoops:

How it stands in the line up!

Was it factory intercooled? 1991 was the year of the change. 91.5 is intercooled, 91 was not. 91 - Big injectors, 91.5 small injectors. You can still get lots of power from the smaller injectors.

You don't have a spare Getrag trans by chance, or know where to get one? They are impossible to find up here.

I'll ask around. Most of the guys around here are running the NV4500.

Is there a date code or serial # on the block that I could post to find out which engine I have?

I just looked at the early photos of your project and it looks like an 89-91 motor with the big injectors, unless the head has been swapped. The engine CPL is on the timing cover tag (driver's side, near injection pump), that is the engine number that Cummins uses for reference. This number tells the Cummins parts guy exactly what you have. Bring it in every time you get parts, it is a sweet system.

LOTS of good info on Dodge Diesel - Diesel Truck Resource - Cummins - Home, 1st gen forum.

Edit: are you glad you went with 4.10s? That 1st is looow!

The owner of the body shop painted it to match the truck. he said that if it was painted white, it would look like every other service truck and fleet service truck on the road.

He gave me 60 days to change my mind. If I still wanted it white, he would paint it white a N/C.

I think he was correct.

like i said i like it how it is
but if i had been you and it was painted like that after asking for something else i think i woulda been a little pissed... (even asuming the other issues didnt happen)

tho him offering the 60 day re do free of charge since he went against ya was good. glad your liking it better this way than the generic way.

How much will you take for it???

I have a crappy 04 Duramax with iffiy injecters , pump , and Trans. Everybody around here is having problems. I'm ready to go Old School---Proven Techology!!! Great work!!! The Dog.:steer:

Mount that thing to the lawnmower, run a hard line to the carb and your little women could mow the whole yard without stopping! :D

FWIW I have a 1st gen cummins overflow bottle that mounts to the core support next to the rad if you want it.
