When I was in the Phillipines, I noticed they really took hold of the American Jeep, and with all the rust issues, began cloning stainless steel for parts. Jeepneys if I remember. All Stainless. Toyota, I am not sure.
Rusty M,
I had actually thought of doing that exact thing[using flatbed cargoe straps] until the sheet metal guy told me he could roll the radius for me,It cost me 30 bucks but I've got all of50 bucks in each panel now and the rest of the 4x8 sheet gave me the start of two rocker panels and a good sizi piece for other things, next is the rear floor, mid floor and the wheel wells.that will be out of a sheet of 10 ga.[maybe not the whole wheel wells]I haven't figured it out in square feet yet and I did not have to get the straps and rachets, that would have been over $30!I have a piece of stainless almost big enouggh for the floor-a gift from my buddy for helping him move,
You can try looking for other visual 'cues' of factory soft top [FST] like three pairs of vertical holes in the rear sill, 10mm holes in the face of the dashboard just inboard of the 'A' pillars, etc.
Looks kind of like tlc dino's cruiser when it came into the shop a few months ago, with a later model hardtop and ambi doors grafted on to it. You will note that the lower half of the doors do not close flush to the body. There is a reason for that.
Anyways, you are welcome to stop by my shop when you are in L.A. Might want to call first, as I some times head out to the desert for land use meetings on short notice.

Well,I just finished hand forming the flange on the left quarter panel .It came out looking real good and took me about 1-2 hours to form it .I cut it out last night using a circular saw with a steel cutting disc ,actually ,I STARTED it that way- too noisy and accuracy sucks because the sparks throw right in the way of your aim.I went to Tractor Supply and bought a air saw for $20.00 [It was on sale from $80.00!] great investment -not quite as noisy, easy to aim,no sparks, clean cut and fairly fast -I love it.I'm gonna start a thread with pics on my build.soon.
Thats where I love my plasma cutter. Although i still cut alot of stuff with an angle grider with a cutting disc
Shooter I think you mentioned you were going to use 10 gauge for the wells. Did you end up going that route, how did the flanges turn out? those circular saws are definitely not good for accurate cuts. I think i will look into one of those air saws the sawzall is not the greatest. I am using the die grinder for now takes awhile because i only have a 5 gallon air tank. I would love to see some pics of your handy work! You think it would be possible to form the flanges on the 14 G. SS?
Bull I want your plasma cutter really bad!I found one on craigslist, Hypertherm 350 Power Max that comes with a 20 gallon, 5 hp. Devilbiss Air Compressor. the guy wants 1175 for the setup. I think its a little much, that model plasma cutter is discontinued so it might be pretty old. So yea Angle grinder it is
