Thank you. It definitely gets "WTF?" looks driving down the road.

Lookin good! Let's see some full side and rear shots...

Your departure angle is amazing... Are you gonna run a full rear bumper, or just between the frame rails? (don't know what your local laws are regarding bjmpers).

I'm planning on running a fairly simple tube rear bumper. I think I'm going to make it run the full width of the rear and angle up slightly from the edges of the tailgate to the outer edge of the body. Potentially ill be running an exo in the future that I want to be able to tie the rear into, so I think I'll need to make it at least wider than the tailgate, if I want to continue to have a working tailgate.

Haha, I hear ya, I get "what kind of car is that? I've never seen one like that" or "Is that a military vehicle?" lol

But yours is looking great! Looking forward to seeing the "finished" product (they never are)...

Doing some work today.

Filled the gap left from the roof cut with a piece of the old roof. I made a small lip that I plan on installing a led strip for a third brake light, or possibly a reverse light , if I end up ditching the factory lenses. Not sure ill do anything with it, but its there just in case. Still have some holes and gaps to take care of, and then probably smooth everything out with some light bondo.

Now working on finishing off the rear of the wheel wells that I had to cut off for the bob. Couple people asked about the square wheel wells. i decided to make them flat instead of an arch so the space on top would be usable. I'd like to install some old ammo boxes on top, or find some tool boxes that will fit, for storage.

I'm guessing it'll get cut off when you make the truck even shorter :)

Maybe I missed it but what are you doing about the fuel filler, now you've cut the hatch off?

I'm lovin' this build.:grinpimp:

Cheers

This is the last bob, I promise... Probably. :D

Thanks! That's on my list. Right now its looking like I'm going to run it up through the floor right near the tailgate, and up and over the wheel well. Attach it to a flush mount fuel filler. It will take up just a bit of cargo space, but I'd rather do that than run it inside the well.

This is one of those builds that really makes me think about doing a bob, especially since every time I go wheeling the a** end of my 80 takes a little more abuse, looking pretty tough ! I like what you did on the rear, different than the others (not that bob-jobs are all that common !). Nice work !

Ill get you one later today after work. It's completely gutted right now though. Once I get everything patched up I'm going bedline the majority of the interior.

Gutted is good, I just want to see how you brought it all together.

Here ya go. Looks pretty messy since everything is different colors and filthy. I'm going to fill all the holes that I'm not using and bedline the whole inside up to under the front seats. That will cover all the pinholes and not so prefect welds, and clean things up quite a bit.

Little bit here, little bit there... Starting work on the tailgate. I have it pretty much all figured out how I'm going to put it together. Only thing I need to figure out is what latching system to replace the stock one with, and how to mount it so I can still remove the new acces panel I'm going to build.

And one just for kicks:

I see you got your sliders on. Have you had a chance to test them out yet?

Not yet. But last weekend I finally got the rear end welded up enough to be solid, so I should be out, at least to corral canyon or somewhere close, to test them out soon. I need to flex the rig out anyway to test all the tweaks I've made.

Since i havent hit the trails since the most recent bob, and I didn't want to shred my tires first time out, I tried to rig up a flex test in the driveway to see if/where I would rub. Worked pretty well. Got a bit more trimming to do.
