Got the bench seat in but kept it covered while I'm still messing with other projects.

No more milk crate seats!

Btw, I managed to destroy the passenger side turn signal while trying to fix the wiring. Anyone have one for sale? Lmk. Thx

what part did you mangle? lens/housing are the same as 40, just swap your base. the stud that rusts and collapses can be replaced with a hollow bolt from a home lighting store. wiring, well, that can always be fixed;)

I do too! I was planning to use powder coated alum. on mine, but...:hhmm:

Thanks Scrapdaddy! Im sure whatever you pick you'll make if look excellent!

Yeah.....I was a lughead trying to remove it. It was dry, brittle and the bolt was rusted solid and it pretty much crumbled. Looking at all the lights I'll most likely have to replace all of them due to the dry rot.
Thanks for the suggestion. I'll keep in mind!

That looks good. I was going to use ABS after the plastic guy showed me that stuff. I wanted something more durable than vinyl but quieter and less burny hot than diamond plate. Price is good too.

Got the rear panels in today. That was a real job! Apparently they are shaped a little different on each side?!?!
I also had to use the heat gun to shape the ABS around the gas filler bodywork.
Here's the nylon rivets I've used.

Good luck.

Alternator Pulley....

So I was driving the WP up to the recycler and heard a heck of a squeal/ grinding, pulled over and checked under the hood and found the alternator was making all the noise, so I turned around and headed home, but just as I pulled into the driveway it seized and killed the motor. No big deal, I coasted down and parked it.
Here's where it gets tricky I ordered a rebuilt one from the local parts store and pulled the old one for trade in. The interesting part is the original one had a 1969 build date on it... The dang thing lasted over 43 years! Anyway, I got the new alternator, did the core exchange and didn't find out till I went to install the new one that the OEM pulley has a much wider v belt channel then the replacement pulley! Well the auto parts store tried to get my old alternator and pulley back but it had already been sent out so instead, the manager ordered me a new OEM pulley and had it shipped to my house at no charge! Once I received it, the install went without any problems. Nedless to say I'll keep buying my parts from this auto parts store!

Lesson- compare and swap pulleys on these old rigs!

Haven't been on here in awhile, so I thought I'd share that the WP is still going strong keeping the roads open.

how do you keep the windshield from fogging?

Air conditioner w/ defrost?

No A/C, simply keep the defrost on high and open the window. Can't say I've noticed them fogging up, but it maybe due to simply fighting to keep the heavy falling snow off the windshield!

How are these holding up?
Are you noticing any warping around the edges after a few hot summer days now?

They're holding up very well. No warping or cracking or any issues. The ones in my 60 have been in for over 8 years and thousands of miles and weather conditions without an issue. The WP sits all year until the snow hits and they're still like new.

Thank you!

Can you tell me what thickness you used?

I built some from .125 and they warped like crazy the first hot day.
I want to say they're 1/8 inch. Good luck.

Good to hear from you again. The Work Pig is earning its keep. Drive it down to the Pig Party next year and meet the herd.
