That pulley is junk. The odds of it holding balance with a filler and speedi sleeve are low. And when the unbalanced pulley's vibration wears down the snout of the crank, you will have realized that you were penny wise and dollar foolish.

Per my sig line I would offer to sell you a pulley, but I am out of the office until the end of the month.

Mark, thanks for the guidance. I'll keep watching your signature line and give you a call when you get back to work and offer to buy your pulley.

Bret, I've tried to leave you a VM three times between yesterday and today to give you the prognosis on your steering box rebuild. It sounds like your phone is turned off.

Steering box is done. I didn't ask you if you wanted plated hardware for the pitman arm??? Also, I just saw a note you were interested in the rocker arm studs. They were not on the estimate I gave you. We'll talk Monday I guess.

Thank you very much Mark, that is a true work of art! I’ll give you a shout Monday, i do need the rocker arm studs.

Who takes over 9 months to update a build thread?

I've done a few things: picked up a full brake line set from @Rainman and got the rear axle disassembled and painted so I switched to the engine. Got the head at the shop now getting a good going over thanks to @S4Cruiser. In the meantime, I pulled the oil pan to look underneath and the oil seemed fine, a little sludgy but everything seemed fine except, can someone tell me where this little spring comes from? It was in the pan.

That looks like one of the tension springs for a carburetor adjustment screw: idle mix , idle speed, throttle positioner.

Have you pulled your oil pressure regulator to make sure all it's guts are still there? That could be a small part of it???

edit - are they finished with your head yet? I wouldn't be surprised if they were!

Thanks Mark, I'll have to dig out the Rochester carb that came with it and see if it's missing a spring.

I'll pull that tonight after I get all my parts boxes up off the floor in the garage so Florence doesn't soak them.

They called yesterday to tell me what was needed and get approval on the cost. Way less than I was expecting. Thanks again for the guidance and help getting it there!

I checked the Rochester carb and it seems pretty complete, tension spring in place. I'm replacing it with a SD-40 I got from @3_puppies a while back. I also pulled the oil pressure regulator and it's complete.

The mystery continues....

Today is my 5 year trophy day and I got this in the mail from Kurt at Cruiser Outfitters, going to be a good weekend.

Rebuilding rear axle and just wanted confirmation, which side goes toward the differential, smooth or notched?

Never mind, figured it out because the old one was still on there. I reckon it’s a trip to the machine shop on Monday.

Knocked the seal out of the timing cover today and was wondering what the part on the bottom is and if it’s supposed to be there. The SOR diagram doesn’t show it, just the seal.
Had a decent weekend, some of the axle together and a small batch of parts headed to the powder coated.

So, I got some parts powder coated. I asked them to only do the outside of the oil pan, but they sandblasted all of it and only painted the outside. I’ve looked around at different forums and some say not to paint the inside, but I value mud member’s opinions on things like this. Do I paint it, have it powder coated or leave it bare?

Bare inside.

Thanks Mark! Now I can start putting the gasket kit I got from you on this engine.

Finally got the block back on the frame and the oil pan installed. Hopefully get the front knuckles done this weekend.

Got my rear axle backing plates installed. Thanks to @Jdc1 for the part numbers to search. Unfortunately, couldn’t find a dealer with these bolts, so ended up getting them from SOR.

If anyone has any of the 9mm brake cylinders they don't want or want to sell, please let me know.
