I have located brake lines for the 62 but they are 7 ft long and for shipping it would be best to cut them in half and reconnect when installing by splicing. Problem is finding a 3/16 compression splice kit. Anyone know a source ?

Stop. Why splice?

Just did the rear brake lines on my FZJ80 FF installed axle and a friend's. Use Copper Nickel line and a good brake flaring tool. It was easy to learn and way better than playing games.

Don't want copper nickel? Don't want to flare?

You can get pre-flared lengths of line that you bend yourself to fit.

I've flared and used compression fitting. Both work. But why not just buy some generic brake lines and bend to fit. You're probably going to bend up those stock lines anyway. Plus you don't have to pay and arm and a leg. Plus you don't pay for shipping.

Good replies. Thanks. I can only find 5ft lengths and that will require a junction/splice and that is the problem, Also I do not think you can do a 90 degree over to the proportioning valve with bendable lines.

Our local auto parts stores carried inexpensive steel brake line in 1' increments, starting at 12" long. Easy to bend and fit to my FJ45.

The brake and fuel lines which run along the frame have been discontinued for years. The lines on the axle are only 3' on the long side.

Please tell us where you found the 62 line? Or did you just source a used one?

Two ideas #1 Don't use compression fittings put nuts on lines and flare ends then use a union. #2 Ask seller if the line can be bent around something to shorten it down to a better shipping length and then just straighten it out when you receive it.

Take your old brake line fittings with you to the parts store. I’ve seen variations in total length and thread depth. If your old ones look ok you could reuse them if you have to.
