So I recently replaced both wheel cylinders on my 69 fj. pretty easy job. However, i cant seem to get a good pedal. after one small pre pump its pretty good. I have blead all four wheels with no change.

Are ther any tricks or sequenses I should know about?

Are the rear brakes self adjusting?

Thanks

Agree with fj404life! I replaced all my wheel cylinders on my 69fj and had a hard time getting a good pedal. After wearing out all my friends legs pumping the pedal while I bled them, I ended up buying a hand pump that I could put on each bleeder. Just make sure to watch the brake fluid level! This was the easiest way and worked very well!!

What did you replace? There are two cylinders on each wheel (8 total).
As the previous poster said, adjusting then bleeding is the best way to get a solid pedal.
Tighten each cylinder until you can't turn the wheel by hand then back off 2-3 clicks.
It will probably feel like it's rubbing, but that's the correct adjustment.

I replaced both wheel cylinders on the rt rear.
All 4 wheels seem to spin freely.

Do I turn the cylinder counter clockwise to tighten?

Sounds like they need to be adjusted tighter.

It depends on which side. You pull the adjuster handle away from the axle tube to tighten them.

Tighten each adjuster on each wheel (two each wheel), until the wheel will barely turn one revolution when spun by hand. It will seem too tight but trust us it isn"t!
