Bracket for alternator belt tensioner (FJ62 3FE) bent?

Hey all,
I’m digging into some routine maintenance on this (new to me) FJ62.
Belts were flopping and alternator wasn’t charging properly, so I’m in the midst of replacing belts / checking alternator. This picture shows the bracket in question: is it bent this way from factory? @Spook50 @Old Nick

That bracket is bent. Remove it and straighten it.

I’m sorry that I’m just getting back on Mud. Godwin and Spook got you covered. Yes, definitely bent.

Bracket has been straightened, wire-wheeled , de-greased/de-dusted (?) and now waiting on hi-heat bbq paint.

Right on. You shouldn’t have to mess with tensioning of the belts for a long while. Strange bracket to have bent. The po must have had a hard time with alt.

There’s all sorts of fookerey on this 62. PO ran two batteries and a winch. I’ve sorted most of the redundant wiring and switches , just want to get to a happy place with the baselining. Looks like a replacement alternator is in my future.

Po fookery just plain stinks. But, there is a lot of satisfaction in making it right. The 80 that I’m building, I swear that the ppo messed with and messed up 3/4 of the wiring on the truck. I’m waiting for that satisfied feeling, and hoping that the desire to sock him in the mouth dissipates with time… lol.

If you're as bonkers as I am, you could heat treat and oil quench it before reinstalling it to "undo" any annealing that heat cycles and being bent back and forth may have caused....

Got the alternator pulled; it’s a reman NipponDenso with silver paint over-sprayed on it. Going to go thru the test / diagnostics as detailed in the FSM.
