Bosal vs. Magnaflow...you decide.

Just out of curiosity, why did you get the Magnaflo instead of the Walker? Both are stainless steel. The Walker is almost $80 cheaper. The reviews I read stated that the Magnaflo and Bosal did not quite fit right on some trucks. All of the Walker reviews I found stated that they fit perfect.(granted, I only found a few reviews on the Walker)
The Magnaflow is mandrel bent and the Walker is press bent.

Dangit. Now I have to add this to my gotta have but don't have funded list.

I knew I should have gone with Magnaflow, the single pipe is larger. The Bosal is two inches, evan after the two go together. Can you measure the Magnaflow pipe? I'm thinking of selling my coated Bosal and replacing with a new MF piece for the extra flow. Also is the Cat a high flow?

Not sure what would indicate whether the cat is high flow or not. I'll measure the OD when I get it back from the coater.

The Walker muffler I had installed on my truck lasted a few months before it failed, not impressed.

Thanks for posting those pics, I need to do an exhaust revamp (again) and will go this route. Emissions is coming up this fall and I bet with two of those big boy cats I won't have an issue passing.

Probably cant tell by looking, but just wondering if it was in any documentation you may have seen with it.

Got my parts back from the ceramic coater. Perimeter Defense did a phenomenal job. These guys do Cerakote firearms coatings primarily and are just getting in to the Cerakote exhaust game. They did a non-petroleum chemical dip (not the cat), heated the parts to 400* to burn off any remaining contaminates and media blasted them before laying down the Cerakote C-7600. I'm very happy with the results and highly recommend these guys if anyone is interested in doing something similar.

The pipe after the collector Y is 2 1/2 inches. The two upper pipes are 2 inch OD.

Looks good!

post more pices of the coated exhaust after a few long heat/cool cycles once installed. Very nice coating on the exhaust.

Thanks! Thanks the perfect size. So did you do full 2.5 mandrel exhaust? What muffler?

The black looks really cool too!

I can't find an exhaust shop in the DC area that does mandrel bending so I'm probably going to get press bent from here on. I'm mostly OK with it though since I'm not building a race car here. Certainly if there was a local shop doing their own bending I'd go for it but at this point it doesn't look like it's going to happen.

Yea i dont think it will make too much of a difference. I used prebent elbows from Summit Racing and welded them myself since i wanted max flow which is why it bothers me so much that the Bosal downpipe is only 2" when even the stocker was 2.25". A couple Fredericksburg shops advertise mandrel but i doubt they have their own bender, probably using the prebent pieces.

Got the manifolds and Y pipe installed today. Absolutely no issues with fitment. It couldn't have gone back together any easier. Even the OEM bracket holding one of the upper Y pipes fit right together. Now to find someone to do the rest of the exhaust over the frame.

Looks good, I just ordered up the same Y-Pipe and also the 2nd cat. Hopefully the second cat fits well.

After you receive them check to make sure all 3 flanges on the cats are straight. One of mine was bent, didn't notice till after the install and had to take it to an exhaust shop.
