The ceramic coating looks really nice.

How does it sound and what muffler is that? Since you only have the one cat, do you have any 420 code? I just installed the y pipe and the 2nd cat, but have developed an exhaust rattle that I need to track down.

The muffler is a Walker unit. It's a little throaty on acceleration but not noticeable at speed. I don't have any codes but I've only put ~50 miles on it since I picked it up. I'm not expecting any though. From what I've read the 2 OEM cats have different catalysts in each but current cat material has both so really only one is needed. We'll see if that proves out.

The guy did have to remove the dynamic damper off the side of the transfer case. I'm not really sure I'll be able to tell that it's not there. It appears to just be a block of rubber bolted to a bracket bolted to the transfer case. I can't figure how it actually did anything.

Looks great!!!! Cerakote is the shiznit, I got that on a few weapons. What did it run ya if you dont mind?

iptman,
I'm in Falls Church and would appreciate knowing what exhaust shop you used (or recommend). My '92 is going to need some exhaust work soon. Thanks. Mark

I took it out to Murphy's Automotive in Warrenton. He's done good work for several of us CLCC guys. Kind of a hike but worth it if you have a second vehicle.

Any chance you can get the Walker part # for the muffler? I assume it's from their Quiet-flow line, and is made from 409SS?

I believe it's the Sound FX series muffler. I'd like to know if the Quiet Flow is any quieter so let me know if you go that route.

I have to pass emissions where I live. It's exempt though if the vehicle is 25yrs or older.

Does anyone know if this Magnaflow downpipe will work for a 94? I could always have someone weld in a 2nd bung for me.

other than the o2 arrangement, yes it will fit the manifolds you have. the down stream side of things would take some work also.

You'll not have any problems with a single cat, no worries whatsoever. I have one of the early EMS systems and had a local shop weld in a Magnaflow round 2.5" "high-flow" cat years ago, it's been flawless and no codes. @iptman that exhaust looks sexy!

Custom exhaust on the 80 courtesy of http://www.murphysmotorsports.8m.com/contact.html ( Warrenton Virginia). ask for Bryan. You have to arrive early so theres a big chance they can do it in one day. If you will be late call them. in my case i arrive 11:30 am from baltimore thats why i have to come back to following day. I towed it in a trailer ( so they can work on it asap- exhaust pipe not hot)-

thanks for post iptman ( Patrick)

Great Info on local shops to get exhaust work done! Thanks all, I will be logging this in my "watched threads".

Yeah there's really no comparison. The Magnaflow is just a higher quality product. They even thought to turn the cats horizontal to improve ground clearance.

Just got my magnaflow y pipe and 2nd cat in this weekend. Fitment was 100% perfect. No wriggling, bending or pounding whatsoever. Reduced CO and NOX emissions by about 75%, now my 300k cruiser smells squeaky clean like a new car. You're welcome, polar bears.

$550 for the pair on Amazon, so it's not cheap, but it should outlast the cruiser at this point :o

I installed a Magnaflow down pipe last winter. Pipe is doing well, gaskets are not. Anyone installing the Magnaflow, do yourself a favor and order up some OEM gaskets. I will need to drop mine soon...

I'm assuming this won't work on a 1994, correct? I also noticed there is only one bung for the O2 sensor....do the 95-97 only run one O2 sensor? I'm looking for a downpipe replacement for my EMS system and don't really want to go custom.
the second o2 is on the rear pipe after the second convertor on the 95-97 years
