Looking at the EWD for both 96 FZJ 80 as well as 97 LX450, the oil pressure sender is not wired up to the ECU. It is wired directly to the combination meter. I can't see how the ECU could make use of the signal without being wired up to it. It shouldn't be a problem to drop the OEM sender, the gauge in the cluster just won't have a reading.

Good to know. I'm not so worried about the cluster not having a reading because it was never very accurate anyway. I will probably hook up the dash warning (idiot) light anyway to the aftermarket sensor since it will have a "WK" terminal available. The new sensor will push actual usable data to my PLX and be displayed my DM6 gauge and/or my tablet.

I am however thinking about leaving the brand new sensor in its original place and maybe getting an additional Tee fitting to run both OEM and Aftermarket on Joey's PeaceTee. depending if there's enough room to clock that much crap in one location. Otherwise I'm also looking into maybe running a sandwich plate so i can add the new aftermarket oil pressure sensor there instead. It'll be closer to the firewall for routing the new wires to the monitoring module.

thanks @scottryana

yeah nameserver nightmare. Been going on for a few days. Looks like it should be resolved very soon now.

cool, I may be dropping you a line to pick your brain on turbo stuff for the 105. I just need to first sort out some engine management options before I pull the trigger.

Were there any good pics of the turbo exhaust pipe to the exhaust? The 105’s exhaust runs on the inside of the frame as opposed to the 80 which is outside. The exhaust manifolds are the same, so the turbo downpipe will bolt right on, just need to see where it ties into the exhaust;)

Ok, so I have followed this thread off and on for a while. I don’t remember where we are in the process of ordering. I am seriously considering this now that my engine rebuild is complete.

Forgive me for some questions that I have no doubt have been covered at some point in the 245 pages of this thread.

If I want to order, can I? If so, is this a full amount up front or deposit situation. If I order and pay whatever I need, is the wait time reasonable? I consider reasonable about three months for a fully paid item.

Thanks,
Smitty

@smittycrusher yes you can order but if waiting isn’t in your genes I’d hold off until after Group D has shipped out which hopefully is in the next week or so. I’m pushing for before Xmas. After that point I will be closer to two months for new orders BUT that can change at the drop of a hat if all of a sudden I get a pallet, or two, of turbo’d at my door.

@smittycrusher

May want to ask Joey but there is this option it looks like. I thought pre purchase was 5k but there have been some kit and cost changes along the way.

Mmmm...that is very tempting.

With that said, I would feel bad about getting one before others who paid a long time ago. I just got done reading a lot of the previous pages and it seems that there are a lot of people that have been waiting a LONG time after paying a lot of money. I would be scared the thing would blow my freshly built motor if I jumped a bunch of people in line, lol. Maybe I am just too scared of karma. I don’t mind waiting 2 months if that really is a real wait time.

They probably haven't explained it to their wives yet or waiting til X-mas, or it's part of the divorce settlement.

OTRAMM has an install video.

Where are the videos of these kits installed? I can’t find anything on yt other than the wits end feed.

Please guys, post some videos or pics on Instagram.

I need to get this in first then the turbo before posting videos.

this is a pretty serious issue Ive been dealing with. I have my solution but it doesn’t make everyone involved totally happy but best I could come up with. I’ll post about it later.

As Joey knows from shipping me 4 separate orders in the last three weeks, my Preventive Maintenance on the rig in preparation for the turbo kit has started to snowball. I bought the '97 late last year as a replacement for the '89 4Runner that burned up in my garage when my house burned down in the Tubb's fire (Santa Rosa, CA Oct 2017). Got it from the original owner with 172k miles on it and all the maintenance records. He did service it well, but the starter, alternator, water pump, etc were all 8 to 11 years old. What started as a freshening up of the accessories has gained momentum. Now I have the valve cover, intake, starter, and distributor off and all the accessories removed. Looking in there, at this point, should I just pull the head and do the head gasket? Or, just pull the motor and put it on a stand? Not much left on there. But, have not bought a replacement hoist or engine stand yet. I guess that would be an excuse to spend more insurance money. I made that comment to Joey in an email. From AAA, to me, to Joey. Transfer of wealth at its best.

Pic of the '89 Runner. May it Rust in Peace....

On the way to the scrap heap, wife's Outback is on the bottom:

since I have inside info, this statement is true for at least one of them 😳
Are divorce fees included as a purchase option?
