There are a lot of ideas with regard to water/meth injection. The three most common locations are 1) Pre turbo 2) Post turbo/Pre throttle body 3) Intake manifold. Each has it's own pluses and minuses.

1) Pre-turbo depending on how much water/meth you are spraying you have the worry that you could erode the compressor blades. Because the air has not been heated prior to the injection it does not enthalpate as well, but it does cool the turbo (bigger deal on supercharger than turbo charger)

2) Post turbo/Pre throttle body the air is compressed and hot so the water/meth evaporates and cools quickly, but the air could potentially heat back up slightly in the intake manifold.

3) Intake manifold air is compressed and hot, it is closest to the cylinders so least chance of the air heating back up, but depending on placement you have the concern that you don't get equal cooling of the air.

I choose #2 usually.

Based on that explanation #2 seems the most logical.

Speaking of which...
The Meth Injection system got another step forward. All the hoses are in and it’s sealed tight. I have everything drawn up so replicating it won’t be a problem. I’ll have to figure out how much the hoses want to move once they are pressurized. Only reason they aren’t secured down yet.

186 at the base. 216 at the top of the grade.
Ambient temp was 71. 55 mph going up.
I’ve got Joeys modified fan clutch.
I was hoping for 180-190 temps. I’ll have to look into this.

@jjdeneen918 it’ll never be that low tooling up a grade especially fully loaded. That being said I would take notice at anything above 209°. The truck doesn’t car til 220+ but yeah something to look into. I may go out for a trip this weekend and I’ll be sure to take the grade. Either Grapevine or into Red Rock.

Speaking of the modified fan clutch...

Mine seems to engage abruptly while driving, as if it was an electric fan being switched on. Is that normal for the Wit’s End fan clutch?

Certainly not a complaint, just surprised it sounds like a giant electric fan switching on. Other mechanical fans seem come on gradually.

Hey Joey. Do you know the BTU difference between the Ron Davis radiator you installed and OEM?

That radiator sounds awesome, albeit uber expensive. I’m guessing in the $1000 + range?
At some point there has to be a determination of cost vs. gains.

what radiator you currently have? If it’s the stock brass one then change it out to aluminum radiators ASAP. Btw if you have a turbo why were you going 55? You need to do 80 so you get the proper airflow, 55 is for people who done have the turbo yet....like me.

The MUD gods will now descend down upon you for speaking negatively of the OEM brass unit. Run for cover. That said, I agree with your statement above and will also get my flame suit on.

I have an OEM radiator that I installed about 7 years & 40K miles ago. I don’t recall what the consensus on the board was the better of the 2 radiators, but that’s what I got.

Definitely give aluminum radiators a try. I changed to koyo aluminum radiator and drop 10 degrees and @Tools R Us usually recommends TYC aluminum radiators which runs even cooler than Koyo.

I have a TRAD radiator and debating an upgrade. Was running hotter than in the past. Curious how much of an upgrade the Ron Davis will be?

Little bit of bad news but it just means a little delay. My little brother caught an error on the most recent batch of J-pipes that will need to be redone at the pipe shop. Its actually the same revision error they did last time and didn't update for this batch. Just texted the shop owner and he says he should be able to turn around the fix in under 2 weeks. So anyone from Group C who hasn't received their turbo yet will be waiting about two more weeks. This doesn't impact Group D or others because those are turbo supply dependent.
