Whats the Difference between OBDI and OBDII trucks?i think it would sell but for some stupid reason i keep buying OBD I trucks so an engine swap is my only option for power.
Whats the Difference between OBDI and OBDII trucks?
I have a 1992 JZ80 with a 1FZFE, are these no good for boosting?
Happy with kit for themoney? As someone that's got a CX kit installed with a w2a intercooler setup I'm more interested in a plug and play piggyback solution, that can also control the transmission as well as someone that's got a great base knowledge of how these ECU's work to hook it all up... with the right injectors/fuel pump/etc to allow me 15+ lbs of boost.
Currently running on as much boost as the factory ECU will allow.... in this instance about 3.5lb before it goes lean.
Hey I wanted to throw out a general dumb question out there....does anybody feel that adding this kit requires a replacement of the head gasket on higher mileage trucks? Trucks with say 225k plus

I'm not sure if it helps, but mine has had a turbo on since 75k, and I wasn't nice to it, and discovered it was running VERY lean at 160k, got it running right and at 170k I'm still on the original HG with no issues. (Knocks on wood...)
I put a turbo on my truck at about 310-315k or therabouts. Not positive it's the original HG, but I have no reason to believe it was changed by PO. Compression and leakdown were both solid.
Turbo since new in 97 now with 155K on original HG. But with that said I PM'd my HG on my non turbo 96 at 150K![]()
Oh I guess everyone already knew Wits End/Joey/NLXTACY was behind the turbo setup. I thought for sure that was going to be a much bigger reveal. Ha!
One for me so 25 for you folks
And no, I’m not messing around![]()
Does this mean I can have first dibs on your SC?
Hahaha
And no, I'm not messing around....
Thanks mate! Many differences but the most important is the way the OBDI trucks handle closed loop and fuel management. The OBDII trucks when in open loop over fuel allowing us to take advantage of that. The OBDI trucks here in the US do not and run lean under boost.
This is not true however with all parts of the world. I know the Australian trucks do not have any OBD systems and they are fine under boost. I only have experience with the US OBDI/OBDII.
I would suggest joining the 1FZFE Turbo facebook group as it is made up from people all over the world and they could likely answer questions about trucks in NZ more easily.
I have plans for my truck but the turbo is for the other 80![]()
