No final numbers, and I won't set the price since I won't be selling it. I do not want to speak for the seller. I don't see it being more than that and would like it to be cheaper, but I am not willing to compromise on quality.

The TRD SC was $3800 and the other IC kit on the market was $1750. SO this kit at it's max is still cheaper. I think if you can do an engine swap for $4000. I say go for it. The adapters alone for an engine swap are $1600.

So we are up to $5200 for turbo and IC? Wow! May be looking back at an engine swap.

Sorry wasn't critizing, I think what you are doing is awesome. Just not for me. Should have kept my thought to myself.

Is the turbo and 5.29 diff gears too much for 37" tires? I'm about to have my 5.29 diff gears installed and don't want to reverse back to 4.10 if I later decide to get turbo.

5.29 does not add power, it is for the transmission to work within the designed parameters and to also keep the engine in the designed power band.
Adding a turbo will increase the power, not change the power band (it is only raised, but within the same RPM range) and does not alter the transmission behavior.
Convertor lock up will go back to the speed it was designed to lock up at with 31"s and 4.10.

5.7 swap would be amazing in an 80, but how much time and money will that cost?
Get it done, I would love to see it :D

im on it.....

should be here in a week. $3850 plus $250 freight.

$3850 for the entire drivetrain and computers? I am seeing the cheapest engine alone with low miles going for $3800. You still need the trans, and either some kind of adapter for the stock 80 transfercase or the 200 transfercase. The later transfercase are center rear output.

Either way this could be a cool project, none of the strong electronics guys I know said they would be willing to take on the project so good luck and can't wait to see what you come up with.

if it fits in a 40 - i have to imagine an 80 will have ample room.......now fitting twin turbos - that might be challenging:

New LS is around 30k for the swap. I'm not seeing the 5.7 being cheap at all.

30K new or 300 bucks used... you can LS swap something on the cheap if you want.
Yeah, maybe. I paid up for nice, clean, records, etc. I'm not halfassing an engine swap.

I've seen brand new LS/LQ with 6 speed for less than 15k shipped with everything you need except for adapter and harness. Definitely doable.

Been eyeing the 6.2 for a while, over 200ft/lb at 800 RPM and 150HP while on 4 cylinder, crazy sick! Why would anyone really need a smelly diesel with such great technology that's easily available from any shop with an account with Chevy?

That looks sick! Although that doesn't look like a 40's engine compartment. Would love to see that though.

On eBay they usually go for less than $10k, slightly used.

@Qball diesels are for preferred for their range. You don't need jerry cans when you drive a diesel.
Fewer cylinders and less displacement.

And this is why we can't have nice things for the 80. No shop in their right mind is going to layout the money to put a kit together when people are delusional about a $300 engine swap. Haha.

For everyone that has talked about an engine swap how many have actually done one from start to finish and had everything working? How much was the total cost when you were done??

I can certainly appreciate wanting to do something different and putting a 5.7L in an 80 is awesome, but it is no where near cost or aptitude wise what were are talking about in this thread. If everyone had the time, skill, knowledge and ability to swap in a 5.7L than mud wouldn't be needed. For others it is a struggle changing the fluids for the first time.

Yet there are always the naysayers that have never done an engine swap that see cheap LS engines in the junkyard and say oh just LS swap it. Again the adapters alone to LS swap it are half the cost of this bolt on kit. Not to mention all the labor, fabrication and electrical that goes into an LS swap. If you have the ability to do all of those things on your own, than I would expect you could do a turbo on your own as well and this thread wouldn't be targeted to you....

.

Probably about 1 out of every 200.......I'm still in the 200 camp.

If I can bolt on a reliable 80-100 hp and the same in torque for $4000....maybe $5000 with custom rad, that is pretty attractive in my book.

you cant have nice things for the 80 without spending a ton because its just such a limited market and i never said you could do a swap for 300 bucks.
