It's going to suck when a bunch of that pretty silver paint burns off. :bang:

My exhaust manifold is mostly holding up with Aussie VHT manifold paint, but the same stuff burned off the air rail. It's ok on the valve cover so far.

That engine looks beautiful, great job!!

Thanks, guys! :D

Sigh! I know  But is looks nice now :)

I expect some of that will burn off pretty quickly - some will take longer. And I reckon I'll touch it up from time to time just to keep the old rust monster at bay. At least until I get tired of it

Planning on getting the gearbox/t-case back in tomorrow with some help. Then back to bolting stuff onto the chassis. Also got all the blue panels back from the panel beater, so they have only the tub left to shoot. Happy :wrench::wrench::wrench:ing ahead, I hope.

Looking good Dan  I will be collecting your 2 magnetic stickers next week ;)

Cool! That will be the finishing touch for the Mule :D:D

Thanks!

Saturday update

Gearbox and exhaust in! :D

The gearbox took a little grease, a little WD-40, 2 strong men plus me, and some grunt. We decided not to use the jack - those 2 strong men lifted the gearbox/t-case up, I slipped a jack stand under it for them to rest on. Then, I aligned it, we got it part way in; checked to make sure everything was lined up, and slid it in. We then worked it up on to the little alignment pins, put the bolts in finger tight, checked everything again, then snugged the bolts up and torqued them down. :D

Then I put the clutch fork boot back in - had removed it earlier to check everying was in place.

Next we hung the exhaust pipe. New rubber doughnuts on the hanger. The muffler is stainless; hope to change to stainless pipe once back in the States.

Then, I did more of the small bits. Finished up by starting to reassemble the hardtop. More of that tomorrow. Here's a look at the end of the header bar with the new gasket and plastic pins. :)

Progress! Got the brake hard lines and the diff soft lines installed. Then decided to do something a little different for a change of pace today. SO I assembled the hard top. All new OEM gaskets, OEM glass and OEM rubber.

Took the opportunity to run a small bead of silicone sealer around the seams where the metal sections connect before putting on the cap gasket and bolting the cap down. Oh, yeah - put a new headliner in the cap as well. Looks nice! Of course, any headliner that is not falling down is better than what I had :D

I forgot to turn on the flash for one of those photos, so it's a little dark :whoops:

It was getting late - 6 pm, sun down, so I finished up with cleaning old grease out of the prop shafts and checking to see if the zerks were still good. Ready to grease 'em up and get 'em bolted in tomorrow or Tuesday. Not bad for just a half day...6 am to 6 pm - just like a regular work day

Adolf,
Me, too!!! :) Tub should be ready in another week or so. I intend to get back on the chassis this week and get it finished up as far as possible, and start the brake work.
