One suggestion with the radiator repair shop path, have them take pictures before they start. When they rebuilt the radiator for the '86 BJ70, they confused themselves on reassembly by referring to FJ60 radiator pictures which were the only pictures in their catalog. This was easily corrected because I was able to walk them through it, but it meant rework (extra for them and delay in getting my radiator back for installation). But is was avoidable.

I may just bring it to the place you used since they have done one before. It may be memorable since they had to redo it.

I am going to have to replace my 1988 BJ73 radiator and found these two options. Both appear identical (except the price). One Ebay and one Amazon. I noticed niether appear to have a petcock or any kind of drain.

My other question is, if I got mine cored, the orientation of available four cores is oriented 90° from the oem. Meaning the water moves up and down rather than horizontal. I am curious, given the inlet and outlet are on the same side on the BJ73 rad, if the 4 core would not be terribly efficient and coolant would not circulate through the entire core.
Thoughts?

@Hugh Heifer I replaced my original BJ-73 (3B) radiator with the aftermarket one built by Winner Racing on Ebay. Overall quality is solid, but here are a few things to be aware of:

1) Top mounting points/arms are too narrow, so the original rubber (top) mounts will need to be modified so that they can accept the new radiator.
2) Need to cut away a bit of aluminum next to the top mounting arms to be able to slide it in to bracket.
3) Need to drill all holes for the fan shroud (and use some nuts to secure bolts)
4) There is no mounting point for the air duct on the top of the radiator.

All said and done, it works really well. Hopefully it stands the true test of time!

Inlet and outlet show on the RH side. 3B/13B-T are on the LH side.

Mmm yes correct. But he has sold 18000 radiators and related items in 13 years, so maybe he let the office lady put the ad on ebay.

You can only ask the seller. The ad does say HZJ HDJ as well as BJ7*, so maybe they pulled out some generic pic

I just have to find time to get mine out and get it to Larry's guy in Kennessaw. Tomorrow would ave been a good day to cart it down since I will be down there anyway but it is still in the truck - mocking me.

Looking through his stock list, he also has a left hand in/outlet for the B engine but the price jumps up to $840 AUD and they dont have a radiator cap.

Correct because most B engine iterations have the cap built into the top of the thermostat housing.

The radiator has no cap and has a boss for where the cap would reside.

I got mine cored at Rome Radiator for $590.
It was in dire need.

The guy is old school and a one man show. He pressured tested it first and gave me a couple options. I chose to stick with three row to ensure fitment. He saw no reason to go with more given the design.
I will put up a thread on thw replacement.

Bumping an older thread. Anyone know if a 3b and 3bii use the same radiator? I know the outlets are in the same location, and no fill on the top for either (since its on the thermostat housing). The BJ73 with 3bii rad's part number is: 16400-58360 and the 3b looks like: 16400-58160

AFAIK, all the 7* series radiators (pre v8 models) will fit into any 7*. The mounting points are all the same
