Changing from a BJ to an FZJ means an engine swap, right?

that's right ! a 1FZ efi ! 224hp! its already done! the donor was a 2005 fzj71 than roll pretty bad!
we toke everything... engine, tranny and tranfer to make the up date! we are now making the gas line to the gas tank also finishing the front axle. the rear as you guys already know! here in venezuela are plany of dana 60 rear ends for land cruisers! so its was really a strait swamp!

Cool build this will be a awesome rig.
What's the deal with a Dana diff?

I can just imagine the diesel lovers faces when they read bj conversion to fzj eheheh classic.

the dana is a little bit wider like 2cm each side, so the bigger tires has better articulacion, and its realy easy to find here in venezuela. (almost all the 70 series has one)

I love diesel engine but here in venezuela doesnt find parts for toyota diesel engine, and here the gasoline its really cheap about 0.02 us$ per litre so 0,08 us$ per us galon . we get the tank full just with one dollar!

sorry diesel guys !

cheap fuel - supercharger?

well I want a reliable engine, so I probably put some header and custom exhaust with a borla. and that will be it!. with a 4.56 pinion and ring, and 224+ hp it will be a reliable cruiser!

At 2c/L hell I'd consider losing the 13B-T.

Actually.. nope. Still couldn't.

What size are the Dana diffs, what vehicle are they out of

Since 1983, Toyota of Venezuela has been using Dana 60 differentials in many of the Land Cruiser variations (FJ60, FJ62, FJ70, FZJ70, and FZJ71). All FZJ80 came with factory Toyota Semi-floating (SF) or full floating (FF) rear axles and some FZJ71 (some during the year 2006 and 2007) came with Toyota FF rear axles. The vast mayority of the 60 and 70 series came with Dana 60 from factory. They were not transferred from other vehicles but rather a partnership between Toyota of Venezuela and Dana for several years.

Hope this helps!

-Alberto

P.S. Nice project, Luis. Suscribed!
