So I have to ask, how far away did they find that dead Bull shark covered in mud? It was a pic
that floated around the news feeds here for a day or two. Looks like your property is on the top of a hill,
good.

My house is way up out of the water thankfully. We've been 4wding across another higher paddock onto our neighbors drive and getting out that way. The Bull shark is up north of me about 1500km, their calling it a Sharknado here.
Better put some tech in:

Fitted the pedals and column.

Cleaned the rear wiring looms

Left it out to dry and one of my sons drove over it and damaged the 300mm extension in the rear lights....... My fault really for buying him the car!!!

Received my 3" St/St dump pipe and fit it up.

I have given up on the technical side of my motor build. I really would have liked to get it to turn key but I am better off concentrating on things I am comfortable with so I have organised my local mechanic to get it there, connect the soft lines for fuel and brakes etc.
He tells me there's only 1/2 a day to get it to turn key plus what ever else I need.
So I am finishing off a lot of small things first. Viscous fan,

I found these in the tank. It was a petrol tank for a 1985 FJ73 so from what I have found out they are lead balls in a plastic outer casing. Instead of adding a lead additive with each tank of fuel you put theses in and they last about 6 years? I think?

I have had some 2pac colour matched up to my sons 75 series factory grey seatbelt which also matches my centre console, then I set about cleaning the plastic around my dash so I can fit the main gauge. i'll do the rest of the trim later. I also got some special plastic primer.
dash.webp

I used hot soapy water and a scotchbrite pad because it is not as harsh as sandpaper, so I do not sand the pattern effect out of the plastic and make it smooth.

Did a couple a midnighters this week finishing off old projects before his pending mechanics excursion.
I got a "perfect main gauge" with my tank that had broken fixing points and cracked clear face. I was lucky enough to be able to make one good main gauge out of the 2. Mine had a rusty face so I exchanged each gauge over.

I had the charcoal grey 2pac dulled down by 30% and applied 3 light coats in succession, 1/2 hour after the plastic primer was sprayed on.
The next day I taped up and painted the black mat shadow line that was on it originally.

My son and I drilled and tapped the exhaust manifold for EGT probe, re-installed the manifold, turbo and associated gaskets.
Cross over pipes.
Double battery tray.
Brake master cylinder.
Clutch slave cylinder.
New alternator. (gave up on genuine after 2 attempts at refurbs)
Refurbished radiator shroud. (missed photo)
Re-connected the wiring loom in dash.
Finished off aircon ducting.

My exhaust guy is over the road from my mechanic so I have organised for Frank to go straight over to him from the mechanic.
I am prepping some brackets that i think are from my old exhaust? who knows if he'll use them but their there.
I have also ordered a flange from the dump pipe people as my exhaust guy's flange is 2mm different in the holes.
I will also drop the fuel filler neck off to the mechanic along with a refurbished power steering box that i got from a fellow Mudder as mine had too much rust on the shaft where the seal was and also a ball bearing got loose in there some how and damaged some parts.

Done as much as I can. Dropped truck off at mechanics. Bit P!ssed off I've let some of you down not getting it to turn key, but I will ask my mechanic some of your questions.

@Postie I will ask about your question from a while ago:

Hi Billy,
As you have a 1985 fj73 Im going to assume you have the vacuum actuated h4 selector? Are you expecting any issues with this not working with the introduction of a turbo? If so do you have plans of how to over come it?

Cheers

I dropped back a couple of hours later with an air box.

My power steering box is ready so will pick it up and drop down to mechanics tomorrow.

He's back for now, over the last 21/2 months he's been either under cover or worked on.
With my 31/2 weeks off and my mechanics week off I ended up with a bill for 23 hours total at a very good rate cause I let them do it at their own pace. Very appreciative...

They re - installed the overhauled power steering box.
Repaired power steering pump and hose fittings.
Made brake booster hard piping and connected to existing elbows.
Fitted other associated hard piping to existing elbows- not sure yet if LSVP is working yet.
Made new mains cable and terminal ends to starter motor.
Fitted fuel tank and soft lines - minus some alterations needed to 2 suspension shackle bolts.
Fitted front disc brake pads.
Flushed brake master cylinder and existing hard lines.
Plumbed radiator - minus cushioned brackets I will get.
Fitted alternator - Some wiring in but lots of loose ends I have to connect.
Filled all fluids.

I thought I would take him now, He's taking up valuable space and its not a standard job for my mechanic.
He will have to go back as he's blowing alot of smoke on start up - white and if I rev abit it goes dark grey/black.
When he's a bit warmer there's not as much smoke but is blue... see end of video.

I will get the engine checked over as I'm fitting off dash, seats etc. I hope it doesn't cut into my intercooler money.

I gave the floor a clean up so I could start back on the sound deadening.

Thanks to Ken I also scored a good condition bonnet and now I'm gunna cut a big hole in it. I have also got Ken back on the job with the spraying of the rear and front doors.

Looks good but that smoke doesn't sound to good. You have a bit of an air oil and fuel problem from the colors of that smoke

Just not finding time ATM, taken on some work much to the delight of the missus and the car build is getting pushed to the back.
Just nibbling away where i can, when i can.

Fitted the steel cage nuts, transmission hump cover and the 30mm rubber grommets in the floor, before fitting the new rubber floor mat.

I got the sheet metal guys who are next door to where I work ATM to copy the factory plastic door scuffs. I made some alterations to the sizes so it covers all the sill and grips the rubber mat better. I made a pair for my son out of aluminum and a set out of St/Steel for myself.

Looking really good. That hood scoop is huge! I suppose if you have the factory windshield bumpers
on the hood, the hood scoop wouldn't fit?
