So I've been slacking on this build thread. Busy with work and the other vehicles. One update on big red is the adapter bracket holding the AC and alternator might need a little modification. The current alternator on there is an industrial type that came with the engine and the replacement I have goes on a ram 2500 from 1998. The diameters are about an inch off.

I also replaced the fan shroud on the 911. The magnesium one was collapsing and beginning to rub with the fan. So I found an aftermarket one made of aluminum.

To keep this Toyota centric I'll post a pic of my buddy Lee's @LKirk302 tacoma truck. He can tell you the story if he wants. The truck started and rolled on its own power to get to the side of the road. I think he's a life long Toyota fan now.

4X4 labs stud blocks came in. I suppose I should clean the arms and paint them while I wait for the weather to get better.

These are seriously beefy. Almost overkill.

@Fort Knox this is the permanent fix for your knuckle stud issue.

They are a pain to work on. Need tiny hands and a lot of patience. I have neither.

He does have a dorkel, but it's not hooked up. I got stuck in the same location with big red a while back. We're lucky the engine didn't take in water.

Decided to take the old alternator to a rebuild shop. They said they can rebuild it and make it crank out 200 amps. This will solve my issue of having to modify the bracket and of making more power. Should be able to pick it up tomorrow or the day after.

So far happy with the 200 amp alternator. The windows come down so much faster. It seems to handle the lights, the AC, electric fan, and radio w subwoofers without issue. I haven't tested the winch yet, but it's been over a year since I used it, hope it still works. We'll see how it does on long drives.

So far I've noticed that I can get up to 80mph relatively quickly but still have to watch out for hot temps. Cruising at that speed was between 200* and 205* without a trailer or AC and with the fans on; outside temps in the high 90s. I guess I have to find some larger aluminum radiator soon and have a buddy weld it to make it fit. Also still on my to do list is still the 6 stud steering arms.

I'm open to suggestions on the larger volume radiator.

Changed the oil and started changing out the batteries for new yellow tops when the tornado sirens started going off. I kept working on the truck and the concerned neighbors came out in a panic to let me know the sirens going off and tornadoes are headed our way. Gotta love old people.

Anyway, due to weather, the battery swap took way too long, but it got done.
Old ones have been on there since 2013

New ones, way too expensive, but cheaper than they were when I bought the first set.

My Dodge 3500 runs at 200F almost all the time. I’m don’t think 200F is an area to be concerned about.

I'm concerned about when it's under load. Towing the trailer, AC and so on.

Your concerning me. I was planning on using a 60 rad in my 75 with the 6BT. I wonder if Champion has something for another truck that would work? They can change the inlet and outlet to whatever location is needed.

What radiator do you have in your 80 with the BT?

A 60 radiator might work for your application. Mine has the timing way advanced and a compound turbo. I don't get elevated temps until after I hit 65 and above or when I gun it to overtake someone. I rather have reserve room for a hot day and when I'm towing.

I’m using stock 80. The 80 is to wide for 70 series and the 70 series rad is to tall for 80 frame.

When I put my AC back on with the compounds I started having heating issues similar to Big Red. Fine around town but towing and hills things got hot.

No real big power upgrades. It will be single turbo and no AC so I still think I will be fine.
