The ever popular BFG Mud Terrain is being discontinued and being replaced by there KM2 crawler tire. I just ordered 5 BFG mud terrain 33X10.5" tires when a friend learned from Costco of the placement. I called BFG's headquarters and was advised this to be true. They said the KM2 would be replacing the original mud terrain tire in September. So luckyily i was able to cancell my tire order form a local dealer and will now be waiting until September for the new line. Last thing I want is 5 new tires that when the times comes that i need to replace one or more they won't be obtainable. Fortunate that they are still going to provide the 33X10.5" tire as they seem to be the only company that offer such a size in OEM 15". Thought i would share this incase anyone else is preparing for the same purchase.

I hope you are mistaken and you are thinking of when they replaced the mud with the same thing only they had the side wall tread............ Unfortunately I think you fully know what your talking about and i am sitting here with 32x11.5x15's on a yota and 31x10.5x15's on a cherokee and every year during hunting season i shove at minimum one stick through either one of the two vehicles sidewalls.:whoops: I better :steer: a little better this year!!!!

The BFG website does not show the KM2 as a replacement for the KM in 33x10.5x15. Presently, BFG does not offer the KM2 for 15" rims.

Correct... Unless some magic happens between now and sept. 15" wheels will be a no go

Bsevans you are correct that they do not CURRENTLY show KM2's. However in September, I was told that they will become available in the 33 x 10.50-15 size. Good indicator that they are changing the current MT design is that the current design is getting harder and harder to come by so those that want them or would like some spare should probably get while you can.. BTW, I'm the friend that Diesel42 was referring. They are available in many 16" thru 22" sizes already.

Yes, it is true, BFG will be launching "phase 2" of the KM2 tire line in September 2008. Phase 2 will contain most of the 15" tires that will be made, as well as more common 16 inch sizes. After September, any new Mud-Terrains you buy in the old tread design will be New Old Stock.

You can check out this information and see the new KM2 tires for yourself at BFG Go Videos click on Mud-Terrain KM2 Test video. Around the 4:20 mark you will see a BFG guy talking about how the tire sizes will be rolled out.
BTW, you'll also see how the tires has a stronger sidewall, so it should help 4x4SW out.

That really sucks. What a stupid move.

"Hey, let's discontinue a near-perfect product with a very loyal following!!! Since everybody loves the way they look and perform, let's pull them off the market, and replace them with a dork-ass XTREME tread design so we can be Xtra genX!!!"

Its worse than the damn Max Headroom New Coke episode... but I wouldn't be shocked if he became their new spokesman.

Hopefully they'll learn from the past and keep selling MT Classic. Otherwise, I expect they'll lose most of their non-Xtreme market.

This is the best thing to happen for Interco in years.

Thank god if i told you how many BFG's i have ruined you would call me a liar so i wont But i will say it was my fault not the tires....

Well hopefully the good news is that reviews of the KM2 are that they are a surprisingly better on road tire as far as driveability. I know somepeople like the look of the MT better than the AT but, fell the on road performance of the AT is better. THe factory told me that the KM2 will be a far better tire over the original MT in both off/on road performance. So i'm twittling my fingers until September.

A friend of mine has a set of the newer ones on his truck and doesnt like them as much as the older ones. He said they are better on the street but they dont clear out in mud as well as the older design. He said he wishes he would have gotten the Toyo MT. They do look awesome though. I am keeping these in mind for when I go up to a 315 on my 80 series.

I know this is the consesus but i have owned both (yes ruined both ) but i seriously seriously thought all my MT's drove better than my AT's and lasted about the same...... I know that is not the norm i agree......

Well the tough spot for me is that i want to keep the OEM wheels, which are 15". BFG has ,up until recently, been the only(except swamper) tire manu that has offered the 33X9.50 & 33X10.50 tires for a 15" wheel. So thankfully there still going to offer these sizes. I now have a new set of orig. wheels for my 83 which have become extremely expensive. Here's a pic(the ones on the rig of coarse.
