I removed all the weight off the back of the GX for a few short summer trips, recalled it doesnt ride as well w/o the weight and put it all back on. While I had the swing-out off, I thought I'd check the status of the swing-out (Swing Out Tire...

Scraped all of the dead bugs from the front :) 3000 miles through desert, mountains and PNW coast. Besides couple minor scrapes and slow PS fluid leak I didn't have any mechanical issues. Turned 275000 on odometer and hope to keep going. Those...

Installed 2nd Gen 4Runner rear stabilizer end links. The extended travel of the dampers really distorted the original end links. Torqued all rear suspension bolts. Found the rear UCA bolts needed a few ft. lbs.

I have seen many transmission fluid questions over the years, the general consensus seems to be exchanging the fluid(drain and fill repeatedly or at each oil change for a bit) is safe. Flush is bad. Some folks leave it be but that makes no sense...

Mine was 250k when I did it. Call it what you will, but I transferred the fluid. NO issues and I've got 15k miles on it from a couple of months ago.

I did get to play which size tensioner pulley do I have…… 3.5” or 90mm NOT the older 4” or 100mm. Then I played the shot this first pulley sits to far back and won’t turn. After another tip to a different auto parts store I found a near identical...

What fun with the weekend be without getting semi stranded at your parents house on the way home to your house some three hours away. My tensioner pulley decide to go Bluetooth mode on me which has we know that doesn’t work.

There are two options for 3 1/2 inch police like those found on my GX 470.

Can confirm this is correct. Also the pulley is not interchangeable between the tensioners, I tried.

Fix the thought of be broken barn / rear door handle on the GX470. Turns out it wasn't broken at all, the (cycling term) barrel adjuster fell out of its tension mount and made the whole thing inoperable.

With some big mile trips in the works for the next year and a 1/2 I needed some tire.....well I wanted some tires that dont go womp womp womp womp, what did you say? womp womp womp. The search was on, I liked the pattern of the new Toyo RT Pro...

Tires are always a tough one. The problem with selecting tires is that all you really have to go on is your own experience and the (probably biased) opinions of others. Another problem is that once you decide on a set of tires, you're stuck...

Got the drawer system installed and finished out with some yoga mat liners. I also was able to use some RIT dye on the the rubber slide latches to change them from yellow to orange. I installed a piece of angle aluminum on the leading edge to...

I haven't actually had alignment issues yet, but will go to the taco tabs if I do. How much worse is highway stability with the front swaybar removed and the rear converted to a higher stiffness? I'm familiar with this modification but haven't...

Rear Storage Shelf - August 2022 Upgrades and modifications to the GX have been non-existent throughout most of 2022. I'm expecting my first child soon so prep work for family has rightfully taken priority. However, as the birthdate approaches...

Other than putting the wrong fluid type in as was pointed out by a GxOR member, i am not sure that it was wrong, just different. The choice amongst most fiscal DIY'ers is Valvoline and it covers both Toyota type IV and WS. This means it is...

Yep, yep...that's exactly what I have been saying. It is hard to justify a Prado, when you have the 4Runner 6th gen doing everything and, in the case of the 1958 Prado, with much better creature comforts. The wining by the Prado owners will...

Swapped the dash this afternoon. It took about 4 hours total, and is pretty straightforward. Honestly super happy with how much better it looks. Picked the dash up from Treasure Coast Lexus in Florida (<$600 shipped to Texas). No broken clips...
