Ok, so the word is in: You will never be honest about your thousand dollar tires even if they suck.

I've been all over the web and this site viewing the individual ratings, testimonials and BS about wide v. skinny. The truth? You buy what you like and only have the chance to change your mind in about 40k miles...

So, as I embark on a new tire purchase I ask: Does anybody have empirical experience with 33x10.50x15 BFG v TSL Radials on the same rig?

I have a 40 that I'll use in a wide range of terrain. I love snow, snot, rocks, fireroads and hills with the aforementioned. I admit, I love the LOOK of the TSL and just can't quit being enamored with those burly lugs. They're also cheaper. I've only owned BFG AT KO's. Any experience with both on wear, sidewalls and pressure differentials?

Help?

well if you do alot of pavement the bfg at will last longer and they do alright in the snow, but not as cool

i am also in the tire buying game but have made my mind up tsl/sx's for sure

Highway legal but we trailer behind the 2500 HD for long trips to eastern sierra. Also have a date with miss rubicon this summer. i have a stack of benjamins that i may as well just roll some joints with... I think the tsl's will get the nod. Do you just cruise the web for deals or use local retail?

well a little of both, im trying to hook up with a guy whos a distributor, but keep that on the down low. ill get you more info when i find out more

I run the BFG's and like a lot of others up here, I'll never buy them again. A lot of guys are finding that the BFG bead protector on the tire does nothing but collect mud, rocks, sticks and ice between the tire and rim causing you to have slow leaks until you break the beads and clean them. I'm not sure if it's a tire/rim combination but it seems to be a common problem. I'd suggest anything but the BFG's. .....Steve

There really is no comparision between BFG MTs and even the radial swampers. Completely different classes.

BFGs will wear better. That is the only plus that they can claim over the Intercos. And the benefit over the radial Swampers is not nearly what you might expect.

the bfg's are a good street / medium offroad tire.... the TSL's are well.... ?Far better bfg's last longer and are quieter. tsl's peform better look cooler and say "Super Swamper" and u know if you run those you "Must be hardcore" as the jeep guys call it.... HAHAHA

bottom line for offroad get the tsl's.

I ran 33x12.50 TSL radials on my jeep, and ripped lugs off at Moab. My next set of tires were 36x12.50 TSL Bias and they were much better in that regard, and weren't much if any worse on pavement once they warmed up and the flat spots came out. The bias TSLs are much tougher and have better traction too.

I'd recommend you reconsicder and get the Bias TSLs if you want an offroad tire.

Wheeler TSL's/streeter BFG's

Wheeling I tore up about four BFG's, and so far zero TSL's.

Thats so Hunter S Thompson......

TSLs wont let the benjamans down.... Keep a spare....

seems this is just a personal opinion. Do you mind sounding like a airplaine going down the hwy? Do you care the way the truck will handle/ride? The Interco's are good tires.... BFG's are good tire's if you drive any distance on the hwy...the BFG's will last longer, ride better and quieter. if you trailer it around
the Interco's will probably be better for you.

Swamper are good for about 9,000 miles on the road...do not ask me how I know.

There are a few more of you interco running guys out there...please let me they last longer then 9K

I don't mind the noise, and reduced comfort for better offroad performance.

That being said, my BFG/MTs did a great job at Rubithon...

My 35x12.50 BFG Muds are great...except in the mud.

They are excellent dd tires, and decent on rocks...but a little mud mixed in and they become racing slicks...

I lost track, but I get a hell of a lot more than 9000 mile out of my bias ply Swampers. And the radials last a lot longer than the bias.

I know since I've put on the TSL Radials I've been very pleased. I have the 32x10.50's. They are not as loud as I thought. BFG's are better if wear is a concern. I think the general consensus is that the swampers perform better offroad. One bonus to the swampers though. I was driving in the mountains of Va a few months ago and there were several deer on the roadside. Once they heard the TSL's coming they scattered back into the woods. :flipoff2: I did not think that being a deer deterrent would go into their list of accolades.

33x10.5 TSL. Love em off road. Not so bad on road. No idea on mileage, I only use them 5-6 times per year.
