I placed an order with www.toyotapartsdeal.com yesterday. They proceeded to split my order up and shipped part of my order out. I received a email from them notifying me of a price increase of $314.11 that I had to pay or they would not ship the remainder my order. I called and they refused to honor the price shown and refused to give me a full refund on the entire order.

As a business owner that also has a huge database of product I can understand the occasional issue of an item not being up to date with correct pricing. I usually just absorb the loss if a customer has ordered it and then update the price for future. Obviously they decided they couldn't absorb it. Crazy they won't refund it though.

So if I'm reading everything right, they increased the price to over double the original price and they won't do a refund? I'd get my bank involved! That's not a price increase, that's theft!

Going from $193 dollars on that part, to $507 dollars is over a 160% increase in the price of that part, I'd say that's one he11 of a jump in inflation

They must have definitely screwed up the advertized price on the website. If I did that on mine, I would just say that I can't sell it for that price and refund it then you can choose to reorder it if you want to. But I wouldn't hold someone up and make them pay more money to continue with the order.

Agreed, but I bought a HB 6 weeks ago and could not find better than 550. With reasonable delivery. $193 seems like an error

TPD isn't my first choice at all knowing how they operate but when I have used them in the past, they always delivered what I ordered if it was available.

Only one time I got slapped with a price adjustment to a higher price but it wasn't by much at all. I mostly use TPD for small stuff I don't want to bother others over. Screws, bolts, fasteners, etc.

TPD is **not** an authorized parts supplier for Toyota; they are a software platform that happens to sell parts for other people. They contract with multiple Toyota/Lexus parts departments nationwide to fulfill parts orders for a cut of the crumbs in selling parts.

The price adjustment most likely came from the dealership that they contract with for fulfillment.

I agree, I recently ordered 4 parts from them and I received a box with 2. They refunded the missing parts but not the shipping. I still need the parts! They could have offered to resend the missing parts, like most normal suppliers. So I’ll have to pay shipping from someone else. I won’t do business with them again. I’d rather pay more from a small supplier.

I am considering ordering a gas tank for my 74... Seems like mixed reviews. Thay have NO phone, NO chat, long form for email questions... Doesn't inspire confidence. I'll save over $200 over dealer prices. There is also a replica steel tank from CCOT for a little cheaper.???

Have you considered a supporting Mud vendor?

Matt, I always go there first, but NO ONE but CCOT has the "replica" which is what I'm prolly gonna order because I trust their customer service far MORE than stealership or parts warehouse. I would also love to have an OEM tank as you've said in the past. Turns out the PO poly tank only holds 12.4 gal vs 16.5 for the OE steel tank. Fuel sender should work too.

(If you Know of a vendor that carries OE steel gas tanks for the 74 40, WHY don't you steer me in that direction?! And, hoping someone would chime in with "i got a CCOT replica and it's awesome" or some such.

I've only had ONE "bad" part ( a trailer hitch poorly welded) from CCOT over the past 15 years and they promptly shipped me a replacement.

Head's up to anyone, the toyotapartsdeal website doesn't charge tax, but the shipping is close to $400 so that's a hard "NO" for me. I can order online and ship to the stealership here in town and their is NO shipping charge. I'm going to call CCOT to find out about shipping and the real world use of those tanks.

Thanks for noticing my post.

I would be thrilled to sell you an OEM tank and I can promise you the shipping will be a LOT less then $400.
Please email with your vehicle information, and shipping address and I can get you a quote. info@cruisermatts.com

Avoid TPD, i gave them a try for a few small parts before seeing this thread. They say part shipped even though it had not been picked up per FedEx. Refused to refund me until they investigated where it was at despite it was never shipped. After 2 calls, multiple emails I got my refund then 2 weeks later the gas tank plug i ordered showed up.

IT’s likely they don’t have your tank. They will take your money and work on finding one and if they can’t find one your going to be stuck with same situation I had. Stick with @cruisermatt !

TPD are nothing but crooks. Plenty of other good vendors out there.

Unlike a lot of these parts websites (which are just that, websites, they have no real inventory), if we say we have something in stock we actually do.
We just got a fresh delivery of 40 and 60 tanks, hopefully one of them goes into @dazerb 40 😁
