I put some u-joints in last fall that I had picked up from O'Rielly's and I am in need of replacing one again. They are greasable and I have greased them. I am just looking for a higher quality joint!

i go for non-greasable. i figure they are solid and stronger, plus they are designed to not loose lube, instead of needing grease all they time. i have been a diesel truck guy spicer is what i go with. just replaced all 3 joints about $130 for a 2wd truck. they have a teflon type seal that is noticeably tighter than the cheap greasable soft rubber type joint

Non-servicable universal joints are simply a ploy to lull people into thinking they do not have to do anything with them (until they fail from lack of lubrication). Toyota universal joints are top quality and are equipped with grease fittings. That tells me all I need to know.

I've had good luck with precisions, I'd go oem though

I installed Percision ( NAPA) once and could not get grease to come out of one of the ears when pumping about half a tube in. Yanked that puppy out and use Mr.T's all the way now.

Can you give us more info on your symptoms?

OEM in the way to go. Proper install and service is the key to longevity...

It has the u-joint vibration above 35-40 mph on accel, decel, and constantly cruising above 50. It has a ticking noise at low speeds below 20ish, so I'm thinking that it froze up. Don't know how exactly, have greased it at least three times for sure in the past 11 months and it only rolled about 5300 miles on the odometer. Cheap parts I'm guessing.

Do 91-97 all use the same part numbers?

My truck has a moan at 70 mph since I put on the lift, so I have been tempted to replace my u-joints.

I'm looking to pick up some trail spare u-joints. How much are the OE joints?

Had the same experience with the NAPA joint and ran it until it failed which took < a year. Replaced with something cheap from RockAuto which also had a short life span. Now have an OEM joint installed.

I believe I found my vibration last night. I was checking over the whole rig and could find any u-joints loose, not to say that one isn't froze up.

But while checking things, I found both front wheel bearings loose. I will probably tear them apart this weekend and are if that fixes any of my vibrations.
