I drove her to work this morning. Everything is smooth and quiet. Right now I'm very pleased. I will put her on the freeway after work.

Excellent!

Excellent!

Hoping "no news was good news," meant that Bahia de los Angeles had survived Odile. NOT! The place suffered significant damage. Many of the beach properties are gone. The hotel I normally stay has lost a few rooms (Villa Bahia, for Mike and David). Now I'm not sure what I'm going to do since I suspect the backcountry roads where I wanted to go will be impassable.

Well that sucks. Do you go anyway and hope for the best. The news articles I read today said people are in desperation mode, looting grocery stores, etc. The military is working on trying to get the tourists out of Los Cabos. Getting supplies could be very difficult.

Most of the desperation is in Cabo. That is where most of the looting also is. The latest reports are that the main highway (MX 1) is starting to open in places. It's now possible to get from California at least half way down. I'm more concerned about conditions north of the 28th parallel to California. From what I've heard some washes are still running strong, and others barely did. For Mike and David, Santa Maria was a river south of Gonzaga Bay, while Matomi (between San Felipe and Puertecitos) was not an issue.

At this point I'm just going to watch the reports. I'm thinking about giving it a shot. It's all part of the adventure.

A key concern would be if the Pemex stations will have fuel. Is MX 5 open? I am still planning to join the adventure if you go.

Mike ... Fabulous! Check your email. The last I heard MX5 is open as far as Gonzaga Bay. But Santa Maria wash 5 miles south of the Pemex was a river. No idea what the road looks like from Chapala to Coco's.

Video coming out of Bahia de los Angeles. 40 homes lost.

Ya, the transfer case should get a work out. I suspect many of the dirt roads became rivers. I just hope they weren't too eroded out.

Hotel? Come on now, you guys are wheelers and campers. Washed out roads - sounds like an invitation to me. Hopefully the fuel situation is stable though.

The last I heard LA Bay was stocked with fuel. There seemed to be a question about whether one or both stations were open. The flood was very close to both. I like the hotel during the middle to send out an "I'm OK" email to those who worry. But, with the inReach, it's less of an issue. If the beaches I'm planning on visiting are nice, you might still find me there in spring.

Pristine rolls over 200,000 miles.

What no ceremonial saran wrap?:flipoff2:

no need anymore, I dented/scratched the rear door so bad he doesn't even care now...:D

You guys have fun down there, and feel free to post up from time to time.

P.S. Congrats to Pristine (and her owner) on 200,000 miles! There's at least that many more in her, I'm sure.
