so yeah, im waiting on the transfer case that i found in Washington and as soon as that showes up "thursday I hope" I can weld in the motor mounts and tranny mount and start on the fun parts :D

good news is the bumper gussets showed up, now all i need is a bumper, oh and some form of hope. With any luck i migh be up and running in a month or two :D:D

:beer:

power to the steering maaan....-"hippy voice" :)

I welded the power steering box bracket to the frame and attached the saginaw box like Han Solo on princess Laiya.....no im not a star wars freak it was just the only analagy i could think of right now, and you know, you cant have analagies without anal :lol:

heres the pics of the venture....hopefully tomorrow ill tackle the steering like Terry Tate on an a$$ grabbing office employee.

Looking good. Hows the wiring coming along? I would have ran away allready with all the wiring that will be needed for your project. In hte end it will be worth your frustration. Just don't take a BFH to it in frustration.

BFH's are just needed in some situations...... :D

i shoped around and found some Flaming River steering joints which cost me my first born, and threw them into the cruiser along with the steering column that i pulled out of an late 80's jimmy.

and the steering is done like Dawg the Bounty Hunters career

Ouch! Is that really how you are mounting that thing :confused: Hopefully I missed reading somewhere that it is a temporary fix to hold your steering rod out of the way until you figure out if it will clear your new engine mounts. Welcome home ! Oh and just in case it was missed Welcome to mud :flipoff2:

You'll love that Jimmy column. Mine was out of an 89. Good thing you,re putting PS in now. I've got sag manual steering and the smaller diameter Jimmy wheel definately changed the steering effort over the big "bus" wheel. I've been collecting parts for Scout PS hoping to have it done before now, maybe this winter. When I fabbed my column mounts I modified the stock Jimmy dash column mount to use the 40 dash mount and set up as high into the dash as possible. I also had to mod the brake pedal shank to clear the dimmer switch that shows in your pic of the column under the dash. I pulled the pedal out and massaged it with a oxy/acet torch and big hammer.

Yeah thats the fix for the steering column for now, later it will get attached to some angle iron on the side to keep it from leaving like a frenchman from a war.

the steering is looking as good as i do in a swim suit and ill post the pics of the progress today which was painting the column and installing a 90' Isuzu rear end with disc's :D

Looking good. One thing I did when adding my pump, (which seems to be normal procedure) was to box in the front by welding 1/4" scab plates on both sides, before welding on the box mount.

I would be a bit worried about the front of the frame twisting as you have it. I would cut off your welds, and reinforce the frame. JMO.

Great thread and keep at it.:beer: you may also want to reinforce the cross member you hacked up to get pump in.

im definitely going to renforce the crossmember with .25 accross and on the back side. The frame however is the same as my buddies without the scab plate behind the pump bracket and his has held up for a while, your probabley right though, i should have put a scab plate on, so i will be adding some .25 to the side and bottom and using a scab plate on the pass side to box it in.

Thanks for lookin out :beer::beer:

heres some pics of the painted column, its going to look nice with a billet wheel
