Wilco all... and thanks. "Downy", got your info and ill be calling you soon bro, and "Josies land cruiser" i dont even know you and i love you, enjoy the quote :D. This forum is sweet and damn i like the crowd. "Fjcruiser black berry",..... good to know this crowd is not only patriotic as hell but has vets in it too. Oh, and "Cornholio" from what ive read were in the same boat of starting a buildup, even though i think you've got a head start on me :D.

These are gonna be some good times, i hope you all have a good sence of humor and have a pair of drinking shoes, because were gonna have some fun. :D

:beer::beer::beer: Almost forgot to bring some beer today. :D

Hi All:

Patrick, sounds like the GM 4.3L V-6 and that four speed overdrive autobox should work well for your needs. What transfer case are you thinking of using?

"You guys are better than finding out you don't have herpes after all."

I love this quote! The love in this statement is just, well, overwhelming!

Regards,

Alan

I plan on getting an AA adapter and using the cruiser 3 speed or possibly using the chevy, but i think if i go the chevy route ill need a different axle so the toy xsfr is looking pretty sexy to me at this point. Do you suggest anything in particular?

Hi All:

Honestly, I'd suggest avoiding the old one piece Land Cruiser t-cases (aka "three speed" and "four speed" models.) They work, but are old school. The Land Cruiser "split" t-case (as used in US-market 1980-87 FJ60 wagons) is a much stronger design, and quieter to boot.

If you want to go "hog wild" with your drive train, consider this:

GM 4.3L V-6; Toyota W56 five speed transmission; dual t-cases; custom center-diff TLC rearend.

The 4.3L is a popular swap for the Toyota mini-truck crowd running *big* meats. There are adaptors for the 4.3 to the Toy mini five speed tranny. For low-low crawling there are double t-case kits available for the mini-truck (very popular!) A custom centered TLC rearend retains the 8.75 inch center section but uses mini-truck equal length, 30 spline axle shafts.

So, with the above combo you stay mostly Toyota if not outright Land Cruiser.
:grinpimp:

I hope you still live in the barracks, b/c you are gonna spend every dime you earn, dude!

Regards,

Alan

Just a little head start, but I have the advantage of having parents with a running 55:D. I'm keeping mine a little more purist than yours, trying to stick all Toyota with an overall stock look, but good luck on your build.(Be sure to start a build thread)

build up you want, build up you get.... thats how i roll :)
Is there any place to get a wiring harness for the engine thats cheaper than the painless one?

There is a guy on Pirate 4X4 that makes them. The quality is really good too. And the price is cheaper than Painless. For a complete vehicle wiring harness, there are a couple manufacturers out there that are cheaper and the same if not better quality as well. I'll see if I can dig up a link or 2. http://www.affordable-fuel-injection.com/ih-system.htm

Hope this helps

Back from Texas in one piece

So i made it home with the cruiser and a few less pounds and even less hair. Ill post pics of our little adventure of desert driving when i get the camera out of my bros van tomorrow. Oh, and just a heads up, if any of you want to tow a cruiser 1500 miles, dont do it with an astro van. Thats some butt-puckering you just dont need in your life. Thanks again green 73 for the sweet links :D

Keeping the 700r4? Adapting it to the cruiser t-case? Get working soldier! :flipoff2: 200hp of fuelie v-6 seems like a good swap for an old cruiser.

700R4....thats so yesterday, what we got here is a 4L60E and an NP233 with drivers side output. Im planning on fixing that little problem with a passenger side output NP241 out of an 88-91 suburban or blazer....hope this works because i have no idea how im gonna make the linkage work yet
 but ill figure that out next week:D
