These housing really do look good. Nice timing for my Tundra hub caps, since I mangled both of mine while doing front wheel bearings this week. 14+ years of use left them unwilling to move without violent persuasion.

Just stopped by my house for lunch and this was waiting outside the door. FedEx driver had to be cussing me as he dragged it up the stairs. Have a full set of belt mouldings and a couple other small items too. View attachment 3922979
That’s the 8.2” housing?

Never mind…open sesame…it’s the housing

As an FYI, my $285 core GX460 8.2 third member was a bit rusty (came from a salvage yard in MI - I snagged it on eBay). I spent around 45 minutes cleaning it up with a Harbor Freight needle scaler, a brick hammer to knock off big chunks, and a wire wheel on a drill for the final polish. ECGS accepted the cleaned-up core and gave me the full $1,200 core refund (their policy is to give you less of a core refund if you send them something super-crusty). Some of the rust scale buildup on the 3rd member was 1/8" to maybe even 3/16" thick in places. But, it looked pretty good after the cleanup. Maybe it will end up in a forum members rig :).

I suppose the point is that the 8.2 core can be obtained relatively cheaply if you comb eBay one from a GX460 from up north, and don't mind cleaning it up. 45 minutes of my time to save $300-400 on the core is a pretty good deal.

I’m glad to hear that. My front diff core was kinda crusty like that. Cleaned up pretty well with the chipping hammer I use when welding.
8.2 diff core cost a bit more than yours, but it still has factory paint on most of the exterior.
Fingers crossed I can ship them off in a month or two.
