Thanks, gents

I’ve only ever bubbled while heading up Top of the World trail. I know TonyP did too. We’re both throwing codes. Thinking at least one other truck that did TOTW with us. It’s like the Bermuda Triangle of fuel boiling I guess... ;)

Kamal's @Atwalz rig was bubbling too. On Golden Spike, his fuel was litterly pouring out of his gas cap at one point.

When I get my evap system smoke tested I'll let everyone know where it's leaking so then everyone can check their system. If it's the same leak point with everyone, at least we'll know the weak link in the evap system and can work a fix for it in the future.

I had to reset my check engine light twice. I noticed it comes when I overfilling gas tank. Now I stop after first click. Issue has not reappeared.

good info off the main FAQs page

do I have this right:

would we be getting this one (if we opt for the 170lt/45gal aux option): https://longrangeautomotive.com.au/file/11302/4631 ?

then the sops would be to drive and drain down the main OEM 25gal tank, then when my mileage to empty reads 0 (which we know is about 3 gals early in the 2013-2015 LCs) then hit the dash switch to pump from the 45gal aux tank into the main tank to feed the engine? could you do that while driving?

You are pretty spot on.....
Our tank kits will not be the same as AU models. Will make some changes due to US emissions. Size options will be 45, 24 and 16 gallons, with possible adjustment due to reconfiguration to accommodate relocation of charcoal canister.

As for when/why you transfer fuel, you can do it when main drops to reserve status (idiot light on) or empty per gauge, OR you can top off as desired if you want to keep weight forward.

You don't have to do it all at once. Half tank (or whatever) transfer is fine too probably. I'm assuming the LRA tanks have a float and level gauge so you can see where your levels are on both tanks.

Yes, Tony, a sending unit powering the combo gauge/pump switch.

Hey an aux fuel tank is up there near the top of my list. I would buy a 90L/24 gal version if you guys get it worked out.

I was planning on doing a simple version: Buying an Isusu gas tank or another that fits the spare area and just hook up a hose and an electric pump. Find a way to tuck the hose somewhere when not in use and pull it out when I need to transfer fuel. Would just have to run a fill up pipe somewhere and move the canister.(maybe) Wouldn't be as nice as having a transfer switch inside and tanks connected though. But much simpler.
I haven't looked at the canister yet. I am wondering how far it sticks down and exactly where it is located. I'll look tomorrow.
But an additional 24 gallons would be just right.

I have a 100,000 mile warranty. But I'm also doing lockers, 4:88's, front bumper and winch over the next two weeks......so guess my warranty will be gone. :)

Glad you guys are tackling this. Good luck!!

Thanks! First order shipping Monday from Melbourne:)

@wardharris, looks like we have 3 ppl in here from Hou. me, @RS6tofj80, and @Blasst. how many do we need to get a pallet shipped direct to Houston?
Hey Russ -

The short answer is 6. Longer answer is that the pallet load direct shipping only works by air freight, direct from Melbourne. If six Houston area buyers want tanks (for any of the Series) shipped direct to a central point in your city, we can do that. It will save you at least a month, but cost another $200 each for air freight (approximately). We can mix and match the order with 200 Series, 80 Series, FJ Cruiser, 40 Series, etc. We are happy to work with you and we have a few weeks if you want to find some friends. Couple of shops we work with that may be the destination point.

The longer answer is that the first order of 12 tanks is on its way. This is a mix of old-school 60 and 80 Series tanks, along with test-fit Prado 120/GX 470 tanks. The 60/62 Series tanks are going into a 2.8 litre crate motor Cummins-powered 60 Series at @torfab, while the other is going into a 3FE powered 62 at Valley Hybrids by Georg Esterer @orangefj45 and Dominic Descent. The 80 Series tanks are going into a bunch of Texas trucks at Frisbee Automotive in Waxahachie.

US SPEC 200 SERIES TANK KITS
The current order includes a tank mock up for the US 200s that has a receptacle to accept the charcoal canister mounted on top. Working with some advisors on this side of the water and with the vendor (Long Range Automotive) in Australia, we are planning to deliver a US-specific kit that reduces the effort and expense of moving the can up into the inner fender void.

As a result, we are not taking orders yet for the 200 Series kits - until we confirm fitment and cost of the modified tank/kit. We should have that wrapped up within the next three weeks. The modified tanks will lose a couple gallons of capacity due to the cut-out for the can, but we will confirm that as closely as possible.

SO - if you have indicated your interest with a PM, email or phone call, you are on the reservation list. If you have PM'd your interest in this thread, I will get back to you to confirm interest.

We are also keeping track of questions, such as yours, Russ, about keeping the stock spare location with the 24 gallon tank.

Please feel free to PM, email or call as you wish. Apologies for not communicating better, but I blew my knee out in the warehouse and I have been under the weather.....

This thing is definitely happening. Great support from our test customers, partners, etc. Cole Dudley is a hero. More to follow.

Great to hear that there's a relief to accomodate the USDM charcoal canister. As I believe the logical place in the fender on the LX is occupied by the AHC reservoir. Worth the couple gallon lost capacity for a simpler install.

200 TANK UPDATE 11-7-17

Two pallets of tanks are on the ground, working through Customs. Will be at the shop(s) later this week. All signs are positive.

200s, GX 470s both being test fit. Also working on GX 460 (their 4Runner siblings, as well).

All other LRA tanks are available for order - 40, 55, 60/62, 70, 100, FJ Cruiser, Tacoma and Tundra kits are available.

Long Range / Expedition Fuel Tanks for Offroad Toyota’s arrived at Cruiser Brothers, LLC in USA (California). Goodies in there for GX 470, plus 60, 80 and 200 Series

Nice.

Is this the first batch for us that signed up for or the preliminary test set?
Production units for 60s and 80s, test units for 120/GX470s, mock up for 200 (Cole's truck as guinea pig)> :)

Happy to take one for the team. It gives me a good excuse to take the occasional day off of work and drive to Stockton.
Cole just wants to hang out with the cool kids in Stockton.......
