Stock 2013 LX570

Have you had any issues with your stock 200 Series fuel tank such as:
  1. Unvented expansion of the tank on a hot day of crawling?
Yes
  1. Bubbling / boiling of fuel when the cap is removed?

This was at Silver Canyon Road outside of Bishop CA. 80F+ ambient and above 9,500 feet.

  1. Extended "belching" of vapor when the cap is removed?
Yes
  1. Vapor lock, fuel-related error codes or other indicia of pressure issues in the tank or related systems like emission filters, etc.?
I do get a check engine light (my fault) because I leave the cap a little open to continue vent it so it doesn't build so much pressure.

I also had this in my 1999 100 Series with 160L LRA tank. This one killed the truck a couple of times where I was stranded and car will not fire up at all (Death Valley) had to stay for the night on the side of trail. (not a big deal - it was a beautiful spot and amazing stars) Fired up like nothing happened the next morning.

Well, that just sucks (blows?). Sorry for the hassle.

On the 200s/LXs: We have heard other tales of stock tanks doing this - with the problem resolved upon installation of aux tank. Maybe the larger void/fill tubes allow for dispersion of pressure OR perhaps the system is vented just a bit. Have you had "the chat" with service manager at the dealership?

On the 100: We have heard the same story. Follow-up questions... 1) Do you think it was vapor lock? Did the 100 recover on its own? 2) Did you have the filter checked? Any tech review of the install and emissions/vent components?

We will bring in the full range of LRA products and are looking for problems/solutions related to the various tanks / applications.

Thank you VERY much.!

No. I’ve not experienced any of that on my 2013.

Please don't forget me. I will take the 16 or 20. I hope it is available for the GX 460..

Thank you
You are not forgotten, Virgil -

For the 200 Series, 16 and 45 gallon are available. Which is your preference - 16 or 24?

For the Prado 150/GX 460, they have 36 gallon tank available. We (with LRA) need to create a kit for the aux replacement tank they offer, adding the split filler, gauge/switch, transfer pump, etc.

The 200 Series tank kits in any of the three sizes may be available for order as early as late this month as part of the "Early Adopter" program.

The GX 460 tank kits need a clean install to test. We will bring one in on the next order but need a local truck (California) to install and test at the shop in Stockton. I have a 460 but my wife refuses to allow relocation of the spare..... :(

***I did talk to the Lexus about it when it came in for 45,000 mile service and showed them the video - they all looked at me like I am from outer space - so no information from them.

***I am pretty sure it was vapor lock - the motor will turn over but it won't start. I just left the gas cap off all night and it did recover on its own and was able to finish the trip (by leaving the gas cap partially open to continuously vent).

Thank you.

A dirty LX 570 - definitely not the sort of thing the service guys see.

Thanks for the follow up on both vehicles.

16 gallons would be ideal. Lets hope you can find a truck for test. Don't know if the rear part of the frame is different from the 4Runner.

OK, will get a kit put together and add one to the early adopter order coming up (if it happens) and get it installed. LRA says it shouldn't be a problem.

That would be nice. I looked on their site and all I see is a 135 liter tank. Maybe they have something and is not listed.
Thank you

As mentioned several pages ago, LRA is helpful and willing to do mods/alt sizes. Give us some time to get the basic tank/kit installed and we will take care of you.

WE ARE DOING THIS!! :bounce::bounce2:

200 Series Aux Fuel Tanks - Tanking Orders for December Delivery
Conversations with our Australian partners and installed vehicle owners lead us to a high level level of confidence that fitment is certain and that the functional issues (venting, canister placement, etc.) can be resolved through our first install by Georg and Dominick in Stockton.

Some have voiced a desire to get going and get their tanks on the way, comfortable that they can handle the install on their own or in conjunction with our support, since tanks ordered in the next several weeks will arrive shortly after the test fitment.

If you are one of the few and the brave and want to be part of the Beta group, we have set our retail pricing at $1,695 for the complete tank and kit, FOB Stockton. This price applies to 45, 24 and 16 gallon tanks with install kit. UPS Ground shipping is estimated at no more than $120 to the East Coast. We will provide detailed shipping cost upon request.

Contents of the kit can be seen at the following link, but please note that a twin-fill fuel point and US style nozzle restrictors ARE included.

Installation instructions can be found at this link, not including relocation of canister, which will be the subject of an addendum from Cruiser Brothers following our test install, including text photos and a YouTube video.

This is a pre-order, pre-payment deal. We will order for stock with arrival sometime in in January. At that time, we will supply tanks from inventory. If you want complete instructions (with photos) just wait until the stock order arrives. If you want to get going, please send an email to our order desk at info@cruiserbrothers.com and provide the following:
  1. Name
  2. Address
  3. Phone & Preferred time to speak
  4. Email
  5. Vehicle Year
We will provide an estimate for shipping cost from Stockton upon request by return email and if approved, send an invoice for payment. Orders will be accepted until we have maxed out current production and transport slots and close without notice.
You are also welcome to PM with questions, suggestions, war stories and chit-chat.

Thanks for your interest!!

Sent you an e-mail. I'm in

Do you have any estimate on the time associated with the install, just to ballpark the costs for a 3rd party doing the work?

Email sent... thanks again for the effort to offer this solution !!
