Hi Hellebore!

Awesome job! I'm looking to do the sme to my '40 here in NZ, couple of questions:

1. You used a Dellow bellhousing right? Do you know if they offer a bellhousing that accepts the old bellhousing mounts used by the 2F? I'm trying to avoid making a crossmember if i can avoid it, Dellow havent got back to me yet.

2. The H55 you used, was it 10 spline on the input shaft?

3. Were you happy with the quality of the kit?

Any advice appreicated!

1. They probably do what you need they seem to offer alot of stuff.
2 I think all 2f/2h are 10 isn't that the 'coarse spline' as opposed to the b diesel fine spline?
3. It was ok, I brought the whole kit but didn't use the mounts - they were not usable in a 40 - also as i have mentioned earlier the clutch mount interferes with the stock headers but thats not really their fault - they just dont mention it - other than that everything seems fine

ALSO!!!

1. Like Teebag says the H55F has a provision in the "V" on the bottom of gearbox casing to accept a crossmember mount. There are variations though from what it sounds, Dellow works with you to get the mount, and the kit in general, right. You will need to send them dimensions of the transmission input shaft including spline count along with where your gearbox mounts. I bought a used transmission cross member of a fellow 'mudder that came out of a US spec 60 series. It would have had an H41 mounted to it originally, the Canadian spec 60 series came with an H55F, the H55F swap into a US 60 series is fairly popular for obvious reasons. I'll need to adjust the crossmember to fit the 40, but Dellow can provide a crossmember if you need one.

2. The new H55F's sold in the US shipped from Japan for the 60 series swap are 10 spline, the fine spline was common here in Canada because most of the 60 series, and some of the 1984 FJ40 H55F equipped diesels, had the fine spline input shaft. It doesn't matter anyway, Dellow builds each kit for your transmission.

3. I haven't done my 2UZFE swap into my '72 40 yet but the kit is top drawer, it's good quality. The cast bell housing is good as well as the machining. I believe they use Exedy clutches. They've been in business for years as well. Like I say I live in Canada and my kit arrived a few months ago without any trouble. The only problem I had was that they drilled the clutch slave mount on the wrong side of the bell housing (it's cast ambidextrous). We drive LHD here and even though I specified this my housing arrived drilled for a RHD mount. No big deal, I'm trying to source a hydraulic throw-out bearing anyway to try to get around the exhaust problem. See my posts above on that note.
