Started assembling the City Racer E- power steering. Got the shafts swapped out. Clips holding the ignition in place were fun - even with the right clip tool. Overall very easy swap.

Ran the bearing through the ultra sonic cleaner for 10 mins. Looks good as new, spinning like a champ. Added some grease before reinstalling.

Staring looking at options to mount the ECU. Instructions say to mount next to the fuse box by drilling 2 holes in the cowl. There is an existing bracket that houses the emissions control box that will work without drilling holes. What I don't know is if I will need to keep the emission control box. My dad had it desmogged many moons ago, but this was in place when I disassembled everything. @wngrog - have you run into this? I think @Engineer8000 likes to refurbish those emissions box.

Also pulled the box - interestingly, the leftover harness there can be handy. It runs through the driver's fender bib if I recall. I'd have to recall how I handled the connector, but I think I "repurposed" a few of the leads for my cruise control install.
Like the call on the freed up harness usage. I'm sure I'll have something extra that'll need some juice. On that note, I haven't laid out plans for electrical. Mainly because its the area I am least familiar with. Fortunately I have my BIL and my sister en route to tejas for a visit tomorrow. He took care of the forty for many years so he is very familiar with it. He's also a licensed PE and a retired utilities CEO - so just a stroll around the block for him to go through the harness/diagram and offer input to his electrically challenged BIL.

Progress update.

Assembled the bezel and lights. Mounted bib, fenders and apron. Laid hood on just to see how alignment is looking. Will be making adjustments as expected, but happy overall where things are lining up. I'll figure it out when it's time to cinch things down.

Pulled the radiator to make adjustments to the housing for the vintage AC condenser. Going to get the condenser and compressor in place before returning to front clip alignment . Really enjoying spending the time with the BIL on the family rig

Set the toe in 1/8". It's really amazing how different the nardo gray looks in different light. First pic is at night under florescent lighting with garage door open. Second pic is direct sun coming in. Maybe there is a camera effect to some extent, but it's like two totally different colors.

Realized that the new OEM fender replacement didnt have the OEM bracket for the coil so I used a spot weld remover attachment on the drill and pulled it off the old one. Stripped the old paint and a lil rust then rattle canned it. Ill attach it via M6's or M8's and put some neoprene under it and the fender. Too bad I didn't plan ahead and get this done prior to paint. It'll be fine though. Going to fab a plate setup with isolators thanks to @knuckle47 posting the setup here on mud. I too have the Holley hyperspark ignition coil and it's squareish vs the OEM round coil so base needs to be modified to the OEM bracket.

Not sure that a good ground is needed but I did run a jumper from the plate to the fender. Your’s looks great… it so does the entire job

Do you happen to remember the paint code for that?

Belts on, radiator back in its home.

Made some front clip adjustments. Put the hood on, still needs some alignment tweaks before I'll call it good.

Still work to do in the engine bay, but I'm too excited to not see how she's gonna look assembled. Can't wait to see the Holley RetroBright LEDs lighting the way.
