Congratulations on your situational awareness. You did everything right and lived to tell about it. Sorry for the damage to your truck but I really wouldn't give a s***. I would be happy to be alive! (not a criticism) I am a CCP holder and would have chosen your path in a heart beat. Anyone who thinks they can out shoot two bad guys is going to end up hurt. Avoid conflict is always my first option. Never be a willing vistim!

One you establish that there is no further damage internally the fix should be fairly painless.

Not awesome in the least, at least not in this country.

They very likely could have (and probably would have) sued and won. Even people involved in 100% righteous shoot outs (IE: home defense, etc) have lost in civil court, because all they have to do is spin some sad story for the jury, and civil court doesn't have the same restrictions as criminal court. (Think of how easily a smooth talking attorney could take a jury into believing that he could have driven around the perp instead of over him....)

What happened is the second best result, with the absolute best being no damage to the truck.


As Flyrod said, it sucks there was damage to the truck, but at least it's fairly superficial, and most importantly no one was hurt.
 
Glad you are ok.

Check some salvage yards for parts, they are selling some cheap off cash for clunkers cars before they are required to crush them. Or at least that is what they told me.

Yep, It's sickening how screwed up our court system is! You can rape or murder and get off or do little time but do a federal crime like rob a bank or sell moonshine and your gonna do some serious time......

Silverhorse: Funny you say that cause your exactly right. When i took my concealed class our instructor told us if you pull your weapon you are allowed under Florida law to fire until you feel the threat has subsided. He said you better make sure there is no chance you will end up in a court room across from the attackers, in other words you pull that trigger until there is no chance they will ever get up again-
 
Ill echo everyones sentiments here and say Im glad it turned out as well as it did. No doubt, you chose the right course of action.

Now, as for tech and help, there are a couple rigs being parted in NC if that is convenient with your FL to NY drives. PM me if your interested in following up on those for parts.
 
Having a concealed handgun *could* actually save you if you were taken captive in the vehicle... this almost happened to me and some friends when we were carjacked. We were being told (at gun point) to get in the car, but decided to run. If forced into the car, having a concealed handgun would give you an edge for survival...

As for tech: there was a guy in Sherwood, Oregon (here on mud and craigslist) parting out a white FJ80 w/ manual windows and flareless from the factory. Not sure of the status on his parts vehicle... I'll try to find a link...
 
Holy crap, glad to hear that you are ok. With the economy and our current society, anybody with a brain needs to be prevalent against thugs worldwide. Even if you had a CCW the ability to reach it in time would have been none, you did the best course of action in the time alotted which was probably less than a split second. Congrats on your high observance at such a late hour and your ability to tell the tale and keep on driving the TLC.

As for the perps, kidnapping to empty your bank account or house works in most Countries and then the kidnapped person goes "missing." Afterwards a few robberies with the TLC until it is dumped somewhere or the perps apprehended/dispatched. Classic Tactic that thugs have learned, some from their country of origin and others from Hollywood...

Glad to hear that you survived uninjured. Certainly rapidly driving off was the best option in this circumstance.

I really like the self defense laws in Florida and your ability to defend yourself if put into that position. The "Kingdom Law" should be passed in every state so that you can properly defend yourself and family without having to figure out that a guy that just kicked in your patio door and is standing in your kitchen or jumped in your backseat is lethal or not.

In Texas (and other "castle doctrine" states) they could not - civil suits arising from the commission of a felony are specifically prohibited. :clap:

Yep, even a completely justifed shoot will likely cost you thousands and thousands (perhaps much more) of $$ in legal fees.

If you are going to carry a firearm, get firearm self defense training!
 
Glad you are OK and I believe you took the appropriate actions. Especially sounding those horns of yours. I've seen the vids and they are impressive to say the least. I wouldn't be surprised if the perps experienced hearing damage after this attempted car jacking. And possibly crap filled underwear.
 
Good choice on the flight rather than the fight/stay Brother. I had a full car full of dudes try to Rob me while I was in kisseme (may have butchered the spelling) now I have a Florida non res. concealed carry. They could have had a choice of my xd-40, or my colt Government 1911. I was walking with a full suitcase (tourist anyone?) and the dudes sped towards me in an empty parking lot and jumped out, one had a piece of conduit, another had a police baton! I dropped the suitcase and straight up ran as fast as I could made a quick ascertation of traffic on the highway and ran across six lanes of traffic. The dudes started yelling somthing gringo in spanish. I carry two clips and im a good shot:cool:
