This is terrible! I am glad you are okay! It sucks that our laws would have held you liable if you had gone back to the scene to apply some Roundup. They will try again and this time they will kill innocent people.
Even if they were caught they would only get time and get out worse than they went in! If this had happened in one of those Mideast countries every one of them would have been executed.

OK, here are some pix:
Not sure what it looks like on the inside, but I'm hoping we can save the door
Gunna be hard to find a matching shifter console and I guess I'll have to cover up the bruise on the dash cause I doubt they'll replace the whole thing
The white spots on the seats are sharp pieces of glass that got lodged into the leather

At least they were a horrible shot.
It shouldn't be too hard to find a matching console since that is the more common colors out there and the inside of the door should be fine as long as it missed the window motor and the locks.
If you are going through your insurance company you could take whatever they give you for the seat and order some covers from AATLAS1X.

If these guys weren't reluctant about shooting at you for driving away, there's no telling what they would have done once you gave the vehicle to them.
In that case, you fared better as a large, ambiguous target driving away then you would have as a certain, defined target standing alone on the street.
With as unpredictable as bad guys are, you did the right thing in this instance.
Glad you're ok.

WOW! Seeing the pics brings the horror to all this! I can't believe they shot the gun?! I've been carjacked at gunpoint and lived (no shots fired)...It got me to get my concealed permit. This brings back memories and makes me feel very fortunate. So glad you're ok man...
At least the bad guy's rarely spend the time to learn to shoot well. Cost too much and take too much time to learn. Most of the bad guy's are short on both time and money thankfully.
I would look at the transmisson housing and see if that was hit. I think you may have more damage than you expect. Where is the final resting place of the bullet? My bet is in your ac controls or firewall. Your damage may be extensive.

They were lodged in the edge of the door and when I opened it, they fell on my running board and I just grabbed them thinking they were parts of door and threw them on the seat (it was dark)
It wasn't until I pulled it into the shop and hit the lights that I realized they were bullet fragments
Cop said that if I find one in the console that I should pick it up with a tweezers and carefully stick it in a ziplock bag or envelope

FWIW just keep the bullet holes in the door, I see people all the time that pay good money for the stickers

Wow. I was thinking if i was in that same situation, i would probably have been shot. Stock engine + 35 = slow. Im glad nothing happen to you.

Wow, looks like here at home, about two weeks ago, the bad guys brought down a police helicopter, killing the copilot. for the doors, that's all repairable, interiors, that's another story.
They probably wanted to take the truck for parts.. it happen often in other states, because this parts are expensive and hard to find, and is weird there so many other cars, but why a Landcruiser?? Next time i will put some kevlar panels inside the door and bullet proof the rear glass to be safe. Next time keep your eyes in the back specially in the night... wish you the best, special to all our community be safe..
