No problem @DerfO4, good luck with the rebuild! Have one more question for them (time difference really slows that down), but otherwise hope to have it on the way this week. It will still probably be a few weeks before I have feedback as the IP is also out for rebuild. I will post back with my experience.
You better let me know when this arrives! I'll bring the KEI truck over :D

That's one hell of a truck! Had a small drive with Chris at Buschtaxi, Germany, pretty insane!!
Got the 3" exhaust and intercooler installed, next step will be a Wink somewhere in the future!

I gues you guys know this motionpicture ?

That's Chris in his 45. Great display of what their turbo with intercooler does. Yota diesel Power!!!!!

I purchased the 12HT drivetrain out of that beautiful beast. I’m currently restoring a 43 that the drivetrain will reside in here in California.

I'm running a Wink4x4 for over a year now.
I had my injector pump also overhauled through Wink, and preset for higher boost / more fuel.

The very first run I had with the overhauled pump, and the new turbo, I was so excited that I went a bit further then my own driveway. Very, very bad decision, since I hadn't properly mounted the hatch for the hood. So, big dent's in the hood, and bended hinges :bang::bang::bang:

Anyway, back to the Turbo: Remy came over to tune the IP, but it turned out to be perfectly set during overhaul.
The torque at low rev is huge, I can take (Dutch) roundabout's in 3rd easily. Turbo spins up very quickly, instant max boost (1,1 bar) when putting the pedal down.

Especially during a trip in the Swiss Alpes, the turbo was a real joy. Amazing how it pulls.
I run it at ~1,1 bar peak. I chose to be quite conservative, as I still run on the original pistons / bearings.

I'd certainly recommend it.

Any more updates on Wink? With current rates (and crazy shipping costs) the Wink is about $400 less. Also that it is a direct bolt-on is appealing.

Thinking Santa might want to drop one of these off for me!

So far so good, no issue with mine.

Thanks @Ringwraith good to hear!

Are you running an intercooler with it?

I have heard lots of people, especially here in Europe, where Land Cruiser modifications and specialised shops are extremely rare, saying how happy they were with Wink. That's the reason I went with him, but my experience has been unbelievably horrible.

I got my stock 1HD-FTE VNT turbo reconditioned by Remy. Absolutely awful service! Initially everything started very well, a lot of communication exploring different options, boosting the engine, etc. In the end I decided on full reconditioning + replacing the impeller, CHRA and shaft with ones good for 1.5 bar.

Then I sent the turbo and it all went downhill after that. No responses for days. Finally I got my turbo back after a few weeks and the hot side impeller was binding?!

I had to get it to a local turbo shop to repair the repairs. Apparently the backing plate was bent and had hammer marks. They replaced it with a new one. The VNT vanes were badly worn. I specifically asked Remy about replacing them, because I had a couple of check engine lights that usually happen when the VNT starts sticking, but he assured me everything was fine. I had to source a set of new vanes myself - they are pretty rare to come across for the FTE.

This was the wear on the vane paddles that were supposed to be just fine...

The hot side was all dirty and greasy. The cold side flanges had dirt on them. It's a nitpick, but for the amount he charges, I expected at least a better cleaning, if not a working turbo.....

Remy never replied to my followup emails about the condition of the turbo. Just a short reply that the binding was normal ?!
I payed for the local repairs myself. He charged me €1046 for the pile of junk I got back.

I was just about to contact Wink. This has made me think twice. Real shame
