After having our first kid, the 70 series landcruiser ute that my wife and I had built to tour Australia in was rendered quite useless, so we set about looking for a replacement for it.
I didn't want to sell the ute as I was quite attached to...
I did, looks like I forgot to update this. I ended up running two stacked coolers in line with each other (the big 34 stacked plates) one up front and one remote in the rear, both with fans.
Never had an issue again towing my trailer.
You get the catch can, bracket, hose, barb fittings, and hardware. All neatly packed and shipped to your door.
If I were to order just the catch can to the lower 48 right now, it would cost me $90 shipped w/tax. Note that it's currently on sale...
Whats amazing to me is this: such a HUGE difference in size to the 200 series. The 250 really comes in at a waaaaaay more trailworthy size- especially width and getting through narrow trails/ obstacles. I think for the bolt on roof...
Expect no less!
Tweaking, hills, wind all contribute to heat.
Your OEM temp gauge will barely/ if move at 97C.
Water boils at 100C, obviously you run coolant and have a proper functioning rad cap, which at 14psi will bring the boiling point over...
Do you have a transmission cooler? A442 generates a LOT of heat. Needs significant cooling. Can be a big factor in coolant temps as ATF is cooled in the bottom of the radiator.
Big cooler and a manual lock-up kit much cheaper than a manual...
I don’t understand 90% of what anyone is saying on here but if y’all do this mod and work out kinks and someone starts selling a kit I would 100000000% do this when my trans needs to be replaced some day.
Hazard, thanks for starting this thread and including "and more". I am in the process of swapping a ZF 8HP75 into my J80. I am using the TurboLamik TCU, which is the preferred TCU in the 8HP swap scene.

I am going...
All the pieces required, not including nuts, bolts, gaskets etc.
1 torque converter to flex plate adapter.
1 engine to trans adapter
1 trans to transfer case adapter
1 transfer case input shaft made to fit 6R80 output
Good measurements good math😉
How does it handle with that much lift.
When I tried that much lift I thought it was sketchy.
I’m current now at 2 3/4” to 3” of lift with 39s and lot of cutting to make it work = a super stable ultra capable Rig.
Nice truck! As has been explained, the 4H button is not exactly the same as the CDL button on a full-time 4x4 80 - lock the hubs and then when you want 4x4, hit the button. In my experience, if you ease on the throttle and the hubs are locked, it...
Honestly, I have to wonder what people were thinking when doing stuff like that. It's about $30 in parts to do it correctly.
You need to return to a stock configuration. Please purchase a new set of fusible links (90982-08264), a new junction box...
