Anyone running a 1Up Rak Attach on their 200 series? (1 Viewer)

Did you get the Thule recently? I can't seem to find it in stock anywhere.
I couldn’t find it in stock anywhere and then found this one for sale locally via a private seller, BNIB. Not my usual luck, but I’ll take it.

I hate to bump an old thread but to answer the original poster’s question. I have a large rak attach from my old truck. This confirms even the large version still hits the tailgate. Pictures attached.

I can still access the cargo area with just the top portion of the hatch.

The Wilco Off Road Hitchswing is the way to go as far as I'm concerned.

The Wilco Off Road Hitchswing is the way to go as far as I'm concerned.

I had a bit over 400 lbs hanging off my Wilco hitch swing (hilift, hitch riser, hitch basket, 240 lbs of pavers, load of groceries) yesterday. Did well.

I've been following this thread for a while, looking for a solution. Long time 1up user across several vehicles and was looking for a way to gain full access to the rear of my 200 as well. I had the Kuat swing out, which contacted the tailgate as previously advertised. I was excited to see 1up released the Rakattach 2.0 a few days ago...I walked outside and took all the measurements, and it looks like everything will fit fine. The overall height of the unit itself is about 1 inch lower than my Kuat, and I only needed a few mm to make that work. The actual pivot bolt looks to be clear of the lowest portion of the tailgate, and the unit overall is tighter to the vehicle. I've got the large one on order and will post an update once I have it installed and have confirmed its fitment.

Is the new one reversible for left or right swing?

The new rack is fully reversible for left or right swing and it comes in two different widths. 1UP has drawings with detailed dimensions on their website.

Thanks all for the new/recent feedback. I am still looking for a solution. Just can't bring myself to drop the ~$800 on the Wilco, even though it seems like it would work.
Very curious to see/hear how the RakAttached 2.0 works out.

Has anyone considered the Rigd Ultraswing?

I'm not a huge fan of the hitch swings, so it's probably not for me. But this is the one I'd probably go with if that were to be my solution.

I’m pretty sure they didn’t make one that fit the 200 as of a while back. I called and spoke to them and even with my body lift, I think there would be tailgate interference.

Right you are! I should have checked first.

I bought a medium Rak Attach for my 100 series this last spring along with a 2x HD rack.

The good:
It fits my 100 series perfectly in every dimension, closed and open. I can't open the hatch completely with a bike mounted but I can open it enough to drop the tailgate and open my drawers if needed which is really nice.
It's easy to use but I would like a built in stop to easily align the magnetic pin holes. Looks like the design of the 2.0 would take care of that.

The bad:
It is extremely heavy.
It killed my departure angle.
It wobbles in the hitch. How they can mount the rack solidly and not the swing out is a mystery to me. Is that sorted out on the 2.0?
I had to fabricate a simple heat shield to keep the exhaust from destroying the composite slide (1up sent me a new slide and hardware free of charge).

Unfortunately it's a necessary evil for me. The 2.0 definitely has a slimmer profile and I imagine would suit a 03-05 LX470 with the through the bumper receiver very well, as it does the 200. It wouldn't matter for me and my frame mounted hitch though so I'm not sure if it is worth upgrading from my 1.0 version.

After a trail mishap (ie, moronic motoring moment), I just replaced my bent Thule Access swingarm with the Rak Attach. Great fit and quality, with just a tiny bit of play at the mount for me. The latch handle and magnetic pin, which provide redundant closure, are nice touches.

Happy to report that the RakAttach 2.0 works like a charm, is built like a tank, and provides ample clearance to the tailgate and full access to the back end. Install was simple and there’s no movement at the hitch whatsoever. View attachment 3075224View attachment 3075225View attachment 3075226
Thanks for the update, I've been trying to find a swing away that works for awhile now. I immediately purchased and it arrived a week ago!
I modified my dirt bike rack to have sit closer to the rakattach. Works great!!
Also on the 1up bike rack I don't need it up rotate up I just need a fixed rack platform that sits really close to the rakattach. 1up doesn't have one yet so I may have to build one.
My only issue is I noticed rust spots coming through on the welded areas that are painted. I sent an email to 1up a couple a days ago on best way to fix the issue but no response.

I know a few had mentioned that the RockyMounts Backstage has no clearance issues but has anyone happened to have purchased or tested the RockyMounts AfterParty? I am still in search of my 200 series and would just be using it on my wife's Grand Cherokee for the time being but its an expensive rack and would rather not find out it doesn't have the same clearance as the Backstage down the road.

As promised, some shots of the Thule 9037 + 1Up Super Duty Double + Super Duty add-on single. Solid as a rock with no rattles. As mentioned above, the 9037 has plenty of clearance between it and the dropped tailgate. No modifications need to be made to the Thule to make this happen. The entire rack swings out of the way of the tailgate and rear hatch - no interference whatsoever with any component on the 200-series (tailgate, rear hatch, bumper, taillight, etc.).

Thanks for the discussion in this thread and for recommending the Thule. I’m very satisfied with this configuration.
