That's a widget, it's only purpose is to make you ask questions 😉

But honestly my bet is that thing is part of an aftermarket security system.

Trace the wires behind the dash and see if you can find the alarm module tucked away somewhere.

If you can find the module and get the name or model # than your 1st step is complete.

wish it were

The 1/4" phono plug confuses me, but since it's a TRS it has 2 signal and one ground so it might make sense that it could be used for programming whatever's at the other end. So...I'll say alarm. Curious what you find when you trace it.

Or, plug a guitar into it and see what happens. Ohh!!!!! Maybe a Mr Microphone???

Head gasket sensor
I beg to differ. I know it's similar to a head gasket sensor. However, this is a Magneto Reluctance based sensor for the upper reciprocation Dingle Arm. The reason it is hard to recognize is that this is the non OEM version:confused:

[google turbo encabulator, for specific reference]

I’ll trace it back and see where it leads :)

Aftermarket alarm. Removed it and reverting back to stock.

Looked like something for a driver to “key” into. Wonder if it was a company or fleet vehicle.

Looks like the alarm was a older circa 1997 Clifford Immobilizer…

The plug key thing was needed to plug into port to start the car.

The wires probably lead straight to the Russian Embassy...

Looks like it's a device to calculate how many ugga-dugga's are applied when a service or repair job goes wrong and it reports back to the Upside Down via NCIS
