anyone in the utah valley are a that has a tube notcher, got my metaltech nose gaurd and stinger just need to notch it. anyone nearby who can help.? :cheers:

Grinder = Notcher

~ 5min per notch

Cut V with cut off

round out with grinder wheel

Hole saw notchers are a huge PITA and not even worth while

not even gonna try, done it before. took longer than 5 min.

Torch works too, or plasma cutter, but a grinder with a cut off wheel goes fast, make a straight v then finish it out with a grinding wheel.

looks like the one at harbor freight for 39. bucks. im checkin those ones out.

would you recomend one for 39bucks. it looks pretty basic? if so ill go buy one.

i got mine from harbor freight, paid $40. Works great. I ended up having to buy a 1/2 drill to run it, but oh well... When you get it lube the shaft with oil and make sure everything turns freely. I dont attach the notcher to a table or anything, makes it easier to notch funny angles and on long pieces. BE SURE to buy quality hole saws, the kind that threads onto the chuck, it is not necessary to get the shanked type. When i say quality, i mean $15-20 saws. They are worth it. just keep the rpm's down.

i got dewalt hole saws so im good there, i may need a drill though, sweet thanks for the info

I've tried the cheap notcher as well as the chop saw and grinder techniques. The chopsaw, grinder and cutting wheel is much cleaner and easier. To each there own but I'd say save the $40

Man, i dont konw how you could get a cleaner fit with a chop saw and grinder. The hole saw works much better and way way cleaner. I have the HF and it works great. just like the guy above said, dont attach it to anything.

so i got the one for 39 bucks, works like charm, great buy

yeah the harbor frieght one works good but for extreme angles I agree the cutoff/ grinder is the way to go
