I have a prefect LEGAL area to camp at the top requiring 4wd for ~50'. Even with the mountain packed with people I was alone

July 9th

Tentative - at some point gotta replace the rear springs on my dragging 60, to make up for the new tires and rims I put on. Been driving the Geo more (39mpg vs 14, go figure) as my primary, but don't have a good yard to jack up the 60 and replace the springs. 60 is fine for intown driving, but would bottom out/grind rubber on anything that actually requires 4WD right now.

For those who might want to venture up the backside as a group, the usual Oracle Circle K would be a good place to meet.

Typically, all you have to do is go to the Palisades Ranger Station and get a campfire permit (free). I am sure they make the judgement based on prevailing conditions at the time.

I'll check into it as the date draws nearer.
