I did a search and didn't find anything, so I'll ask if anyone has found a supplier for a rear cargo area storage box. There are several homemade wooden boxes with pull out draws on youtube, but I am as bad at wood making as working on the FJ40. TIA

If you’re looking for something that fills the rear of the truck, I’m guessing the folks that hang out in the expedition builds forum will have a number of high$$ suggestions for you.

As a ‘common sewer’ myself, I got a military surplus aluminum footlocker, which I used for over 10 years before passing it on to @Spike Strip. Maybe he can snap a pic.

i used a tuffy #130 storage box with dimensions 29 1/8L x 34.5W s 4 1/8 H. the drawer is only 3" tall but it works great. I thought I did a post on it. I then used a Jeep rear seat for a CJ 7 I think on top of it. I then added the second metal shelf for some additional storage. Now it fits my cooler and recovery box nicely.

This is an option but harder to get to stuff when packed up with gear.

IIRC, @pardion used an aux tank that wasn’t fuel-tight any more for the same purpose. Would take a little more prep to repurpose, but would have a much lower ‘entry’ point. Good call @CRZR45

Found another thread (finally), for others reference. I can't believe someone hasn't made a standard box from fender to fender, level with the fender sides and goes from the rear of the front seats to the back doors. Youtube has several wooden pull out draws that seem perfect.

I am working on one right now that will have a tube steel structure with a heavy duty pull out drawer and mounts for a best top bench seat. Once I get things finished up I will post it and see if there is any interest in making some more for purchase.

I'm the 3rd owner here on mud of this Smittybilt box, I've been rocking it for a few years.

Works perfect for my current needs.

Sadly, they're not available anymore, but I really like my Con-Ferr locking box. It's great for locking up tools when the top is off, and takes up very little otherwise useful space.

I would love one of these but have never been able to find one.

Every once in a blue moon, one comes up in the Classified section here on Mud, but they’re few and far between. Mine was in the truck when I bought it, 17 years ago.

It wouldn’t be too difficult to make one, with an appropriately-sized sheet metal brake.

@1911 Coleman’s is where I got them or major surplus

I looked and I see a 81mm … wondering if that’s the one I got … looks like it … but out of stock it looks

I’ll have to measure
