A picture of the foam being glued to the wall to hold the radiant foil away from the metal (to create a air gap/dead air space)

insulation and interior wall (most likely plywood) to be installed over the foil.

If I used spay-in, or batting insulation it would. That's why I'm going with the rigid foam insulation.

What R are you going for? I've been trying to figure out how far to go down the insulation rabbit hole.

i'm not too worried about the r-value. the ceiling is R-15 per the installer. ( i can really tell a difference working on the ground without heat i need a 2nd layer "long sleeve shirt" but, once i climb a ladder or get on the scaffolding i have to take it off). having the air gap should minimize conductive heat. On the ends there will be 2" of foam insulation ( R5 - 8 per inch depending on which material used). on the sides there will be about 5" ( just because thats how wide the frame is). I am hoping this should also help dampen sounds emitting from the garage as to not disturb the neighbors when working late.

i think once i get the radiant floor going everything will be toasting when i want it to be. it's all plumbed and powered i have the glycol , just need to pickup some distilled water and pump the mix into the pipes.

One of the last things I did at a previous job was dismantle about 80 linear feet of that stuff. All of it was 12 and 16 feet tall, with 4-6 shelves each. Loaded it up for the buyer. A year later I went to work for the buyer...and my first job was cutting it to fit the available height, blasting it, painting it, and installing it before setting up the warehouse. It had just been sitting outdoors in the year he'd had it. Had no clue that our paths would ever cross again. Oh, did I mention the 3/4" plywood decking???

Yep, that's some good hard core pallet racking.

It may be in here and I missed it, but what size service did you have set for your shop?
