Another awesome yodaTEQ creation - 80 series ditch light brackets!

Just bought a set of those lights from Amazon for that exact intention! Did you thread the hole in the bracket or is there a nut back there?

I can see making a little plastic offset piece to stick on over this hole to keep water/mud from entering. The tires can fling as you can see from the chunks taken out of the paint on the mirror.View attachment 928825

Great suggestion Joey!

I have made the necessary changes to my design to still allow the wiring to go into the vehicle through the mirror and be able to plug up the hole using a Locking Rigid Plastic Plug.

These Locking Rigid Plastic Plugs will be included with every purchase

Here are some photos to show the change

Changed the rectangular opening to a 1¼" circular hole

Notched plastic plug in 2 places with a Dremel to clear the mirror

These plastic plugs come with strips on the sides that expand beyond the hole diameter to lock into place. I trimmed these strips to allow the clearance of the light's wiring to go through and into the mirror and still allow the plug to lock into place.

Any idea if a waterproof connector of some sort would fit into this hole to allow lights to be swapped/removed easily and plugged in as need demanded? I don't have lights yet an I'll change my mind a dozen times when I do. I may even make mine quick removable as I DD my truck and want to leave as little as possible for the public to mess with when it's in the parking lot.

I'm excited to receive the brackets but I'm concerned about how to get all these wires into my truck. I've fished a new set of speaker wires through the existing rubber boot. It was a nightmare and that was a single 16ga speaker wire. Any tips on how to bring in 2 sets of Rigid connectors and a HAM radio antenna lead?? o_O

Yeah PogoPins. We used them on the design of the RED EPIC's accessories and yes, only works when connected. If you have the door panel off, which is dead simple, then you can drill the hole from inside. I wouldn't even second guess it.

The truck side is the tricky part. There's no easy way to get up in there and drill a hole through the doublewall of the jamb. What would you recommend tool-wise to accomplish what you suggested?

You may not like my answer but I was going to be installing my snorkel at the same time and removing the fender so that I could route wires where I wanted to and safely.

LOL, well, that would be easier. Same plan on the driver's side too then I suppose? I wish I would have bought a bucket of foresight when I started working on this rig.

Well foresight also makes me spend years over analyzing mods which means my project bins get full. I don't like doing things twice so one project could be ready to be installed but I wind up waiting because there is another project that involves the same panel but I haven't decided on the direction. Now both projects wait. Sometimes being spontaneous has its advantages.

Do you have the part number for the OEM rubber wire loom? Looks like I'm going to pull the fenders off when the brackets get installed. From the pics I've seen, that will be the easiest way to go.

I don't but it would be good to find out for the collective. We are all going to be in the same boat.

Haven't checked the factory boot yet but if you have room you can pull the wire through there.

If not then I'll disconnect the door stop and then use a right angle drill with a Unibit. I haven't checked to see if it would work yet.

Another option would be to run it behind the fender and come in under the truck. Not as desirable an option to me and would be last resort.

I looked into that exact approach when I ran the new speaker wire and i couldn't fish anything through the 3 angles in that boot and I don't know of any bit/drill combo that would work either. The issue with swinging the door any wider is that it hits the fender. Removing the fender and installing the boot looks the 'easiest'. o_O
