hmm i don't know what you mean by that? you ask in another post if you have all the pieces required for a dash pad - the answer is yes! It looks like everything is there to me

you're still missing the dash knob spacers though

Finished restoring my steering wheel and I'm very happy how it came out. Cleaned it up well, filled a couple hair line cracks with a 2 part epoxy and than laid a couple coats of Eastwood 2K primer and finished with Eastwood 2K in gloss black. Little wet sanding and polishing with a buffing compound and voila! Also tried my new horns for the first time and they sound great, nice and loud.

I looking for this sheet metal piece, my first body guy threw it with my old dash. I have it circled in capri blue. Borrowed it from another forum member's thread.

From my understanding that is a part of the dash.

I have always assumed a new dash will come with it

If it isn't part of the new dash I'm in the same boat as you

Yeah buddy, I don't think it does. FJgoober said he gets request for that piece all the time. We need Awlteq to make some!

It would be awesome if you could get the length, inner diameter and outer diameter! Would allow new ones to be made to spec.

Doing some searching there are many threads that tell the length, but not OD and ID. They are 40mm long. Some report a 3/8" ID and some report a 1/2" ID works. I'm going to bet they're 10mm ID and guess that they're maybe 14mm OD. Might be 8mm and 12mm though, would depend on the size of the windshield knob. Unfortunately do not have them handy to check myself.

Here's one thread:

First off, gotta say what a spectacular build !!!!
Second , Hoping you can tell me if your wiring harnesses are new or the originals cleaned up ???
If new, could you tell me where from ?? and if original, could you tell me how you made them look new again ??
I'm doing a yellow 76 fj40 too . Your build is inspiring.

Thanks guys, djcfj40, I cleaned the original harness with simple green and than mineral spirits. Lots of elbow grease and a couple tooth brushes. I bought new harness wrap from coolerman and just took my time and followed his instructions in re-wrapping it. I was lucky and my harness wasn't all cut up. I did buy a few plugs and other stuff from coolerman to take it back to original condition. He is a great resource! I than followed a thread on here and carefully labled all the plugs and just reinstalled the harness. ColoradoFJ40 is doing a resto on the same year and he helped quite a bit too.

Truck is started and runs perfect!!!! No leaks from the 50 or so radiator hose clamps;) that's what I was worried the most about.
