Question, has anyone had issues with the axle breather leaking gear oil? The rest of my rear axle is now sealed up good but I still have oil leaking from the breather cap.

I wish you would take better pictures. I mean who wants to see a sweet 40 in idyllic fall Montana scenery???

lame...

 ;)

How about a couple of moose crossing the road, that was yesterday morning on the way out!

I'll have to check the mileage but I'm thinking I drove over 600 miles yesterday.

So serious about driving you left the rods at the house? :frown:

I had a few rods and my waders with me but it took me to long to get to West Yellowstone so I didn't have any spare time to fish. There were boatloads of people out fishing at almost every spot I stopped at.

Yeah, it’s a funny tourist season around here- usually crickets around here this time of year. Covid has kept them coming, but its starting to taper off now. Hopefully get the town back to ourselves with the dropping temps...

600-miles behind a 2F, on top of straight-cut transfer gears is a good day.
heck yeah, that’s a pull in a 40, or maybe I’m Just getting old. :D
Exactly what that 40 should be doing.

It was definitely a long day of driving, I left the house at 8 in the morning and didn't make it back home until nearly 10 at night. The uphill drives over some of the mountain passes are brutal, 3rd gear running about 45-50mph.

I stopped a lot to get out and stretch and walk around but didn't waste too much time anywhere. Other than a couple of fly shops I always stop in.

Y'all would probably laugh at me if I told you I drove 600 miles in my FJ40 to buy $15 in fur.

Blue Ribbon Flies in West Yellowstone has some bins in the back of their shop that you can hand pick your fur. I'm pretty sure it's locally hunted also.

Nice! I’m about 3 hours on the cruiser before I need to stop, and mine would be considered Gucci compared to yours.
I think B, 3B, H, 2H people would be longing for 45-50 on the flats let alone uphill

Completely understandable. I’m sure some Mud members have driven farther and spent more money for a chance at handpicking their fur.....

I can definitely power down the road at 70+mph but it gets pretty intense, not to mention fuel "economy" tanks!

I knew it wouldn't take long!

Since I mostly tie VERY simple caddis patterns....... good looking stock!

My engine will do better than 70 mph, but I get enough vibration from the tires and rear driveshaft that I keep it under 65 mph most of the time. I try to stick it right at 60 going down the highway, I get the best mileage right around there.

I also keep a log of every bit of fuel I put in it, mileage, gallons, price, date, and MPG. I also make a small mark when I put ethanol free high test in it, although I think I might get better mileage with the lower octane ethanol crap. I need to review that still.

Based on my last bit of math, I got 13.9 out of the last tank, based on the odometer mileage, with the extra 10% added in it's safe to say I'm getting about 15 mpg if I keep my foot off of the floor.

Looks like a log book from my days of working for Uncle Sugah (USMC)!
