Aluminum Radiators

FYI... I bought a "4 core" Ebay chinese radiator and looked in only to find a 3 core radiator... they gave me half of my money back...

So, take a look to make sure you get what you paid for.

This thread jinxed mine. LoL

Small bottom seam leak appeared last week. Had a shop clean and test it along with the intercooler months before the engine was ready too. Only have about 300KM on it all now. Boom! Drops on the garage floor. Took it back to the same shop yesterday and now they say to recore. Quoted me more than buying two or three of the same one new.

Installed by PO so not 100% sure of it's origin. Looks like the Ebay ones I've seen. I've had the rig for about 6 years. So it lasted that long plus a year or two I'd guess. Seems reasonable.

Debating my options.

Been watching this thread from the start and compelled to vent! Save the world bs they say.

Alu is cheaper to make, it suits manufacturers for more profit. If it lasts a a few years the aftermarket industry is more than happy.
I have had two alu radiators with plastic tops on other cars just pop or crack not lasting 5 years. Without warning. Not even off road.

My 1988 hj75 copper radiator is still the original and it gets a work out with vibrations on bad roads, and heat, and towing or hauling heavy loads regularly. Solid.

No comparison in quality or longevity. If you can get a good copper and brass radiator, it is worth it. Perhaps even custom made, $$$ but for the peace of mind. Especially if you go remote..

16400-17080 is currently $450 at my local dealer and it's just two days away. I already have an aux trans cooler so I'm headed that route.

Besides the Chinese radiators, are there any off the shelf aluminum radiators out there for 70 series or are they all custom built?

There are a number of different iterations from Toyota depending on engine and body style.

There are no radiators remaining for any pre-1990 7x engine variants from Toyota.

I am also looking for new radiator for my Lj78. Is there an aluminum dealer that you would recommend? Thank you!

PWR North America (subsidiary of their radiator company in Australia) can make you a custom one. They made mine for my 1995 FZJ75, works flawlessly.

Sorry guys for all the questions. I’m pretty ignorant when it comes to all of this but trying to learn. Thankful for this group. This is the radiator we are having issues with in my 92 LJ78 RH MT. There is nobody in Nepal that can recore so it looks like I am going to need to buy an aluminum one. As I have searched for radiators I have found several MT but they do not have the cap on top. The only radiator I have found that looks close to this is the KZJ78 radiator. Is that what I have had in mine? If not, where can I find one that is not pressurized? Is there any that someone would recommend? Thanks for all y’all’s help!

Been talking to them and they are saying they never made one before... anyone know who I need to talk to?
