I am hoping someone can confirm for me that all US LCs have a trailer hitch behind the panel on the rear bumper? I've been looking on line and it seems to indicate that is the case but I haven't been able to find anything that says, 100%, no question, there is a hitch.

I was looking at one at a local dealer and couldn't get the cover off easily and didn't think it was good form to break it before I buy it :)

You don't need to pull the cover off. Just lean over and look under/behind the rear bumper. You will see very heavy hardware that completely surrounds the spare tire underneath...coming to a focal point around the receiver. It will be obvious that it's there.

Yes all US. Spec Cruisers have the hitch. What really seems to be the grey area is the wire harness to plug your trailer lights in. Those factory wire harnesses seem to be very hit and miss. Of all the 200s I have owned and add in my Dad and Brothers, seems out 8 200s 2 were missing there plugs and in one case the dealer said it didn't come with the plugs, in another case they said it was just missed getting installed at the port. Called Toyota and they said nothing in the build of materials stated the plug was included. After a brief fight with them over it, I was able to get a 200.00 special allowance toward getting one. A bit of a hassle, I had to buy it and then send in receipts then they send me the 200.00 refund.

Normally the conversion plugs are located in the tailgate storage or the right-site rear storage.

With all but those two 200s, the plugs came installed, its anyone guess if port, dealer, or factory installed I have heard all 3. We did look in all the usual places, they were missing. The tailgate storage was the first place I checked, I was hoping to find it there. It took about a week to get one ordered in.

Toyota's customer service official position was that those plugs were not included on 200s, even though they were included on the other 6 200s my family has owned. There are some other older threads on here with other members that ran into similar situations regarding the hit and miss plugs.

Speaking of the OEM trailer plug, something I would recommend if your planning to pull a trailer. The OEM plug is located a fair bit off to the right side of the rear bumper tucked back up in there a ways too. None of my trailers factory wire harnesses are long enough to reach it. I keep one of these extensions similar to this stored in the back of both my Cruisers.

Thanks for the replies. I did crawl under the truck expecting to see a very obvious hitch attaching to the frame, but at least to me it wasnt as obvious as I expected - I was also being quick. I did see connector like the one pictured above so that gave me pretty good confidence. I am going to look again tomorrow and will spend a little more time checking it all out but it sounds like I am good to go.

It is my understanding that in the US spec that the rear frame cross member and the hitch are essentially integral.

Here is pic I found of a 200, minus the rear bumper. You can see it's tucked up under the back pretty well. At a quick glance it looks like part of the frame. You can also see at the lower far right of the hitch is the plugin for the trailer lights that I was referring to earlier.

Thanks, that makes a lot of sense based on what I saw when I climbed under the other day - plug was in that exact spot as well.

Is this also the case in the LX570? I have been looking at one online and had this question. Thanks

Yes. Same frame, body, and roof and door panels (and quarter panels from 2008 to 2015).
