i found a writeup on guy who installed all pros disc parking brake kit onto their fj40s t-case and i have been searching the board for it for a while

anybody know who did this or can give me a link?

Yes especially if it would help reduce driveline length on the split case, as I'm thinking about H41 to split case so I can drp the case gears later on.

thanks guys yea i have searched everywhere. i think it was an old post. a guy with a green fj40 did it and it bolted right up.

I think that will fit any of the one-piece cases. I have also heard that those do not hold well in many situations......like when you need them to hold. Additionally you need a really good skidplate that protects it because it is more easily damaged than a traditional drum-type P brake.

yes i was thinking about a skidplate also

definatly something else to think about. still looking for that guy with the green cruiser that did this to his. anybody know of the thread that im talking about?

ok there is a guy by the name of kabato19 that did this. i just pmed him with questions. he said he made it work with a little modification.

also checked it out as far as protection goes. i probably would have to run a skid plate if i was weeling my truck all the time, but sadly mine is sticking to the paved roads most of the time.

from what i see in the picture it looks like the setup is protected quite a bit already. if it mounts differently on a split case i might need one

We now make a super heavy duty FJ40/45 skid plate, but I don't know if it will clear the All-Pro parking brake. If anyone knows, let me know.

Please investigate the holding power of whatever you buy. It is not just a "parking brake", but an emergency brake as well. Why do you want to change it anyway? My drum brake will lock up the rear wheel(s) and leave skid marks. Not in my shorts either;) Separate system for that.:D

Don't know if it helps, but the MAF disc kit bolts up nicely to the non-split cases

All Pro Kit

I had to modify the kit.....it is not that difficult but time consuming. When I redo the setup I am going to change to a 4Runner type e-brake cable and a hand brake between the seats, so the brackets will change for the cabel to something better than is in the pics.

What I did: cut the back plate off of the assembly and flipped it so the pivot for the arm is on the drivers side, then rewelded everything taking care to keep the correct distance/clearance for the caliper/rotor and I added anther piece of metal to get one more mounting hole. the orriginal studs for the drive line are not long enough so I got longer studs from NAPA that are slightly larger (wheel studs for something) and they work fine. I drilled a series of new holes for the brake cable (extended from BTB) the cable mounting is not very pretty but it works;) It holds the rig on a good hill (like the orriginal on the 3 speed did) I have worried about rock damage...have not had an issue yet....it is in daily driver status now. And the last picture

That's not a super heavy duty skid plate - this is!

I agree, evidently we make the second heaviest duty skid plate on earth!!!! But possibly a $185 heavy duty mail order item makes sense to some people???

one of the post mentioned no holes for the rivet (as stock has). You are 1,000 % correct, oversight on our part, will be correct on next batch. I guess we just got too use to spacing the skid plate down to clear V8 conversions and/or disc parking brakes.
