I would love to see your final product next to the same setup with the lengthened 80 frame.
That will be easy as @bottombracket is 10 minutes away with the lengthened 80 frame with 79 body. And I still have a 75 bed laying in the backyard so I’ll have all three lengths.

Yup, we can do this.

Got a delivery. Wonder what’s in the works

The previous owner installed a factory beer can rear bumper (his words). So the receiver hitch was dropped by adding spacers. It was mounted up here.

Naturally I have lost these spacers and bolts used over the last two years. So I wanted to see if there was a way to install the hitch back in the original position and still use the beer can bumper. Two places is where the bumper hits the hitch. At the edges of the hitch and in the middle where the receiver is. So notched the ends and filled the holes with spray foam and tried flex seal spray to seal the foam. It took three coats to get the foam mostly sealed. I finished it up with silicone. Pictures hopefully are self explanatory.

I plan on keeping the original pintle hitch but it looks like you could just trash the receiver and bolt a ball pintle on. I have a Holland ball pintle on my 80 and it works great.

This is a “before” pic. I have since replaced most of the rear bumper parts.
